not sure but if neither of your parents are Jewish, I think you can convert, but it might only be recognized by more "progressive" adherents, and not by the general Jewish community (Howard, thoughts? lol)
but yeah I agree 100% with you, religion was created by man, and is supposed to represent your relationship with god, so you believe what you want to believe.

I think back in the day, plenty of immigrants to Canada claimed to be Germans, but were actually Jews.
And didn’t tell their kids the whole story.
My sister has done some research.
They got here in the 30’s, bought a boatload of land, built a school, and prospered.
When anyone asked them, they always said Germany, for obvious reasons..
