Price had to keep this team afloat on his own, but what if we had traded him and kept Halak instead? Price would have fetched a huge return and, most likely, we wouldn't have needed a stellar goalie at this point, an average one would have been fine. So I still think this decision was wrong as we all put our eggs in Price's basket instead of spreading the talent around the offense and defence.

Like the poopbasket return we got for Roy?

I don't think Price, hardly established at that point, would have fetched as much as you think.

Look, I was on the draft Zadina train too.

But it turns out Hughes was the right choice (so far).

- Scabeh

I was on the Zadina bandwagon as well, loved him at the WJC slower start but a nice steady progression in his game. Still think he has the higher ceiling of KK and Tkatchuk

I expect nothing more than a steady weak low effort from a runner

The Russian tank misfired, T-Bo was a mess, Rucinsky was the best piece they got! For an all world goalie and Mike Keane

Meh. Him, Gallagher and Domi on a line would've been fun to watch at least.

Houle was so outmatched, even if he had 10 teams that wanted Roy, he would have been taken to the cleaners. He had zero experience running a team, let alone negotiating trades.

From what I have heard about Houle, he seems like a good / decent guy. But if he was smart, he would never taken the job - and that is without hindsight.

Ronald Corey (the real guy to blame here) called him and said that the Habs needed him.

He answered the call. Did terrible.

Yes, he should have refused but it's a pretty hard offer to turn down.

Moving Halak wasn't a bad move, the return just happened to suck.

The expectations of the return we too high.... rarely has a goalie fetched much in the last 30 years.
