That's the thing. Allen wouldn't have the luxury of taking naps behind an All star defense like he did in St. Louis. Any goalie coming here will be facing more rubber than Jenna Jameson.

I never want to see Jimmy Howard wearing a Red Wings uniform ever again. I'd rather the Red Wings sign Ayers. Or Sam St. Laurent. The Jason Voorhees mask will scare Red Wings opponents! His goals against average and save percentage will be much worse than 13th though. Just play him on Friday's.

Again, not taking the SC next year, but showing the intent to make rapid, enduring change will generate player interest & excite the fan-base. The culture is there, the legacy, the history....now we just need the demonstrated effort to improve. We're going to get there, The Captain has too much invested not to make serious change. ANd I think we'd run him out on a rail if he blows it

I vaguely remember Gilles Meloche when I was a kid. I think he played for the Minnesota North Stars back then. We certainly need a young stud Franchise goalie. I've advocated for Yzerman acquiring another first round pick to draft Askarov.

He had a shaky WJC but he's too young to throw dirt on. The talent is there. I just don't think I'd risk the 4th OA pick on him. But if Yzerman believes he's the man then he just might take him at #4. It would surprise me but it wouldn't shock me. No one expected Yzerman to draft Seider at #6.

Markstrom and Holtby are definitely going to get way more than they deserve from somebody, and I hope it isn’t us. Lehner probably will too, although he’s the only one of the three I think is probably still a solidly above average NHL goalie.

Howard, Smith, Elliott, and Anderson are washed. Miller surprisingly isn’t terrible yet but he’s also not any better than average, and at age 40 that’s not exactly I bet I’m excited to make.

Dell and Broissant suck.

Crawford, Greiss, Khudobin, and Talbot I’d be interested in if the price is right and the deal is two years max. They’re all 30+ but up to this point have remained pretty decent goaltenders.

Wings really need to either hit big on a goalie prospect soon, or to use the threat of the expansion draft as leverage to weasel a potential starter out of a team with more than one good goalie. Whoever the Penguins don’t plan to protect out of Murray or Jarry would be an obvious target. I’m also a big fan of both of Colorado’s goalies (Grubauer and Francouz) and would be very happy with either, although they’re both a bit older than Pittsburgh’s pair.

Ya. I was just throwing the list out there. I assume Holtby remains a cap for the next 6+ seasons, but many teams already have goalies, and some of these goalies are going to have to take pay cuts if they wan't a guaranteed roster spot. Nobody is going to spend much on veteran goalies with this cap crunch.
