I’d love to see them get Demko. He’s young and appears to be ready for a starting spot now. If he isn’t and needs to back-up for portion of the season, I’m good with it. Bernier has played good at times and earned the spot in my eyes but he’s not the long-term answer.
If they go FA, maybe Talbot. He could possible see it as a fresh start with something to prove.
Anything is better than our # 2 from last year. Still shocked at how bad he was.

Going for Demko might prove lucrative as the Nucs need to clear cap space.
Say:
Nucs give Eriksson (retain $1M), Demko and Jet Woo, (Nucs take off over $6M cap)
Detroit gives a them the Caps 2nd rounder or even Cholo |

Oh, I don’t think the needle will move too far for a bit. We could double our wins from this season and end up with 68 points |

Amen M2. I liked keeping Seider out of the mess for a year. Development may be best for netminders in the system. |

We shouldn’t give up more than a 3rd if we’re taking Louie back. I’d prefer just a pick for Demko. Extra 2nd maybe.
No need to take on bad contracts unless we are getting back high draft picks in exchange. |

I’d give him one more year to prove himself before moving on. We already made out in that trade based on Hroneks play last year.
If he blows it, expose him in the expansion draft or cut em loose. |

Well if Demko is really available, think you guys will have a little competition on trying to get him. |

I think the best, cost controlled (RFA) they could pull off this summer would be Georgiev from NYR. The Rangers have Hank, who will be a Ranger as long as he chooses to be. And they also had Shesterkin come out if the woodwork to put up beautiful numbers. I think the latter projects higher than Georgiev, and assuming the Blueshirts see it the same way... #40 should be attainable at a reasonable price.
He’s a low risk, high reward type of acquisition. He put up very respectable numbers while having to shoulder a heavier workload than he probably expected this year. He has decent size at 6’1”, only 24 years old, and Russian. Love it or hate it, Russia has produced some top notch goaltenders. He could be signed to a “prove it” deal, which is what Detroit would want until they see how the team is coming together in two years. Or, Stevie Y could take a gamble on a longer term deal at a reasonable cap hit. Say 4-5 years @$4-4.5M
What will it cost? Although I think there will be a few teams interested, I don’t think the cost will be high. Cholo is often suggested, but I don’t trade him away at this point. Detroit has plenty of picks, six in rounds 2-4. I like Yzerman’s scouting and drafting, but a pick is always unknown. I’d offer New York the EDM 2nd Rounder and Conditional SJ 4th*.
*This SJ 4th rounder becomes DET 3rd if Georgiev signs with The Winged Wheel.
Rangers end up with late second, and very early third round picks.
Wings end up with an NHL ready up-and-coming goaltender with upside, on terms that work for the direction this team wants to head.

Sounds like you did some homework on this one. I like how it sounds. Just need Stevie to dial it up and make it happen.

Georgiev was a shock last year. NYR has enough to actually consider letting Lundqvist go. There’s a goalie I’d love to see lift the cup. If they do move on from King Henrik it will be tough to pry G away from them. Would love to get a kid like that.
Thanks so much for all of that! It’s really cool to hear from so many of you guys on this!

The Rags will buy out King Henrick or trade him if he waives his NTC. , the other 2 are their future! (til expansion draft) they might even make a deal w/ Seattle to keep them. It would take a lot to get Giorgiev!

Be a big cap hit with the buyout 5.5m with leaves them at about 12mill with only 15 contracts signed. |

They need to trade him to the Canes or Avs, retain half his salary send a pick with him and receive back a lesser pick.

Just a bit nit picky but you can't add conditional picks based on a player signing anymore. New CBA rule. |

To all the people who keep suggesting Cholowski in these trades...other GMs aren't dumb. They watch games too. His value is pretty low.
Also, the chances of Markstrom signing in Detroit or Toronto are about zero.
Guys like Demko or Georgiev are obviously huge upgrades, but neither guy has that high of a ceiling to me. To be honest I'd package a couple of 2nds, include a decent prospect to try and move up to draft Askarov. Its a risk, but Yzerman did it with Vasilevskiy. |

Demko at 24 is a good age for the Wings. He’s not a starter just yet but will be soon enough for the Wings. It’s 2-3yrs at the earliest til there will be any real moving up the standings. In that time the D would be the biggest focus while other positions fall into place. Drafting of course is key add to that the right vet or 2 asap. Need a lil stability while growing pains are going on.
Demko Stecher Virtanen Eriksson for 2nd/3rd
Something like that might be what Van would move. The price is subjective to debate. Many ppl dismiss Eriksson too readily but he’s not Lucic Ladd or Backes. His D & PK are still better than average & useful to a young team in a rebuild. 2yrs is a short time. The other 3 possible parts have value & use for cheap & are young. |

Interesting, Stecher Virtanen, might crowd the Wings a bit, but can be flipped.

Jake Allen from St Louis for maybe a low 2nd rounder ? Allen only has one year left on his deal, a former # 1 who would be playing for him prove it deal for his next contract. It also buys the Wings time, if it does not work out, with the expansion draft coming up there should be a number of goalies available next summer.
The thing with Allen, he has been in the NHL for awhile, but still in late twenties. |

That's who I'd target. I'd give up a 3rd. Allen is basically a rental next season. 1 year left on his deal @5.5 mil. Canucks will want too much for Demko. I don't want anymore garbage albatross contracts. Abdelkader and Nielsen are still here. Give me Jake Allen for a year to split games with Bernier and then re-evaluate next year. Blues need to clear cap space so they can re-sign Pietrangelo so I don't think it'll cost much to get him. If the Blues greedy just hang up the phone and sign a UFA like Cam Talbot or Thomas Greiss.
My ideal off season for Stevie would be...
1. Draft Drysdale at #4
2. Demote Abdelkader and Nielsen to Grand Rapids
3. Trade for a legit 2C like Tyler Johnson
4. Trade for or sign a goalie to split time with Bernier like Jake Allen
5. Sign a cheap UFA defenseman. A stop gap guy with short term. Like Nemeth last summer. |

He had a decent bounce back year to this year, you guys have the cap space, He might be a very good get. |
