Shesterkin didn’t come out of the woodwork. Ranger fans have been expecting him to be future #1 since he was drafted. He had great numbers in KHL and was dominating the AHL. Most think Hank will be bought out which saves 3 mil in cap space. I believe Rangers will move Gorgiev for the right price. They won’t protect him in ex draft. Brendan Smith has 1 year left on his contract. Wings could be on his list. I’d give up Gorgiev for just the 2nd rounder if Detroit took Smith. Note: Hank will never waive ntc and nobody taking on that contract, even with retention.

Why bother? Put in an offer sheet of 2.1M AAV and all you have to forfeit it a 3rd rd pick. Seems like an easy decision and the Rangers are facing some critical decisions. If they match that, then they have to trade the untradable King Henry, or their future Tendy Sheshterkin. No way they match an offer sheet of 2.1M in the hopes they can trade him for anything better. Its not worth the risk in this goalie heavy offseason.
