It has to be COVID related or else it would be “upper body injury” or “lower body injury”.
Again, they ain’t playing, they are training or practicing. Unfit to train or unfit to practice doesn’t make sense to me.
It’s got to be what we all think it is. - bloatedmosquito
Not true, they’ve instructed teams to simply state a player is unfit regardless of the “injury” |

Canadiens are getting swept by the Pens, Stalock is too small fir playoff success in net so we get by wild.
My underdog pick is Columbus. The leaves are in tough. - neem55

It’s Sunday. It’s a day for wasting time.
That’s why people go to church. |

Yeah, NYNuck set me straight. So, so dumb. Does the exact opposite of its intended purpose. - bloatedmosquito
How is it doing the opposite? It's intended to protect the identity of infected players. If all absences are reported as unfit to play it accomplishes the goal.
That said Cassidy came out and said none of them had injuries and essentially confirmed they are either positive results or waiting for the results. Hard to blame the NHL in this case. |

I don’t fish but if i had to choose I’d learn. Does buying farmed salmon at the supermarket count? |

I disagree. I think it breeds speculation and rumour.
TBH, I don’t think it has anything to do with “protecting the player”. It’s to protect the NHL’s inane decision to stage this thingy during an active pandemic. |

It's cheaper and quicker than buying the gear and putting in your time. But it's not the same as eating a couple hour old fish that you caught. I caught 4 this weekend. 2 hatchery Coho I gave one to a friend and we ate the other. A wild that I had to release, and a small Spring that was released as well. All from shore. A good weekend at my fish farm.

Where did Cassidy say this?
I believe that’s against the gag order of saying only unfit to play & not differentiate what it could be. |

“We had no injuries to speak of,” said Cassidy. “Unfit to play - the league has asked us to continue along that line for the respect of the privacy of the players. That’s what we’ll do…there’s always different reasons. There’s the quarantine rules, there’s waiting on test results, there’s a number of different things that factor into this. It doesn’t automatically assume that we have a positive test.” |

I agree completely.
Players should have a right to privacy and shouldn't have to publicly announce personal/medical issues they're dealing with.
Coach's should just say he's scratched tonight, he's day to day, or week to week and give no further comment.
You can't stop people speculating anyways...
People speculate with 'upper body injury' being mild to severe to concussion |

To a certain extent. I still think it breeds speculation which the NHL usually wants to prevent. |

It's weird that we want to know all about injuries, personal problems or reason's why a player isn't in the lineup.

I'm excited for hockey but can't say I know one way or another if it's the right thing to reopen. It would be nice to know what the criteria is to call this thingy off but otherwise I'm having a hard time being critical of how they've handled this so far.
The real test will be once they start having cases occur during actual games. |
