Breadman for the extra effort award. He's been with th club for a season and has won fans of other teams over. Kid came from nothing in Russia to be an NHL star. That's the definition of what you want for this award. Though I feel like Zib will get it |

So a potentially non rostered player is out for 2 games, and an ex ranger who still lives in NY is saying they have a chance?
good analogy! |

Seriously. This article is a pretty big reach. Not blaming the writer, there has not been a ton to write about for some time. But who cares if Lemieux plays or not? Carolina is not a physical team and the guy would not be effective in his 6 minutes a night. And Weeks was a mediocre backup at best who is being a Homer right now. I'd rather hear some insight to their upcoming matchup with Carolina (who they dominated), draft pick implications (theirs or their Carolina could be huge), Georgievs future, does Fast walk into UFA, Strome's or DeAngelo's upcoming deals...... Those interest me a heck of a lot more |

Thanks for the feedback. Would love to know what part of the column is a "reach." Plus why is Weekes being a homer? Are you saying due to his friendship with Lundqvist, he needs to blow smoke up his rear end? If so, then why pick Chicago?
With the playoffs nearby, the status of those players as RFAs and UFAs take a major backburner. There will be plenty of time to discuss what might happen with Fast, Georgiev, DeAngelo, Strome etc. But that is for when for the playoffs end and/or if we have better sense of what will happen with Henrik Lundqvist.
Lemieux was a regular in the lineup, so I considered it germane to note that he will be out the first two games and what the lines might look like in his absence. I have written before that pretty everything that happened against Carolina the first four games, all of which New York won, can be tossed in the garbage due to the time off due to the pandemic.
As the first round gets closer, which is when we will have a better idea if anyone is forced out, a breakdown of the series will be provided. In the past, I did a deep dive behind the numbers. But, as I noted, similar to above, much - if not all of that - is obviated due to the four months off. |

Sorry. Didn't mean to trigger ya. No clue how Weekes would be considered a Homer. And Lemieux is invaluable. Please give him a long term extension asap. https://i.pinimg.com/236x...19c87c215ede97084958b.jpg |

Yes, he was the goalie Lundqvist replaced in his rookie season. Doesn't mean he is a homer. He is friends with Lundqvist but unsure selecting New York gets him anywhere on the NHL Network. You are missing my point on Lemiuex, which is why I wrote back in April that he may only have one more year as a Ranger and is lucky his salary likely won't rise much or he could be gone after the year. |

How would you define homer? If not having friends, a residency, and paychecks from the former club, what would constitute a homer? I will give you that I do not follow all of your previous blogs, so maybe you did address those questions in the past. That's all good, but there has to be more to discuss then a fringe NHL'ers 2 game suspension, and Weeke's flip of the coin prediction. Ill remove myself from this subjects blog going forward. Good luck against the Canes |

Thanks for stopping by and your comments, no sarcasm intended. As mentioned, all those will be discussed. In terms of your questions on contracts, see this blog I wrote with info on how New York may need to navigate around a flat cap: https://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=106254
Lemiuex's suspension is news for today. His absence has an impact on the roster construction and lines, why it was addressed. |

A "homer" is someone who consistently sides on the side of a team that he roots for. Weekes has never been anything but objective in his analysis of NYR, or any other team, for that matter. He is an NHL veteran and commentator who mentioned the Rangers as a possible dark horse...which they are if the play like they've had at certain points in the season.
Lemiuex is current player on the roster who has been suspended, every NYR fan considers this something of importance for first couple of games. Not Earth shattering news, but news none the less
What's the issue?

You come off as a little dooshy. He's just writing about things that pertain to his time honestly. He's probably the best blogger on this site and I'm not a Ranger Fan. You weren't giving feedback you were being a Richard and Jan is too nice a guy to say so. |

Well we know you’re a jackass and this amounts to sour grapes cause your team is poopty and you want others to join your misery and don’t want to consider the playoffs cause your team ain’t there.

Weekes appeared in 119 regular season games with Carolina and played in 8 playoff games during their 2002 run to the finals.
He saw the ice only 47 times as a Ranger. |

the funniest part of this whole thing is that Kevin Weekes played more games for Carolina than he did the Rangers |

And went to the cup finals with them, yeah.
It's ridiculous. He constantly pumps the Canes tires. |
