I don't see the Kings giving Walker a two or three year deal. Any contract longer than two seasons will end with him being a UFA, and a three year deal would make him a UFA in the same summer when a lot of ELCs start to expire and will need extensions.
Walker had a decent year, looking great at the beginning of the season, pretty shaky for two months or so in the middle, and strong again at the end during the Kings' win streak. He needs to show consistency before he can be considered for a top-four spot. He's the single-best skating defenseman the Kings have had in a very long time, but needs to work on making smarter decisions in the Kings zone.
I suspect he'll either get a one-year show-me deal around $1.5M or a four-year deal between $2.5-3M.

Who do Kings fans value more - Walker or Roy?
Walker I assume because of more offensive upside, but
would the Kings be willing to deal either defenseman to the Leafs
for a fair package? |

Leafs have the pieces to get him it’s just there’s a need for RD in LA as they literally have 3 capable D at the moment that can play that side. It’s more of a need for him then any piece that could come back from Toronto |

Walker has the higher ceiling, but Roy had the better season. They're both probably around equal value right now. I don't think you're going to be able to get either in a "fair package." Toronto would have to overpay to get either out of LA right now.
All of the pieces that Toronto would be wiling to give up are bottom six forwards (Johnsson, Engvall) or 4/5 LHD (Dermott). Neither of those pieces are especially enticing to LA, as they have logjams at both positions. On the other hand, the Kings have exactly 3 NHL-ready RHD, and moving out Walker or Roy would create a gap in their lineup with no one remotely qualified to fill it. |

Makes sense. Most East coasters don't stay up late enough to watch West coast hockey. |

I think that you're confusing him with Sean Driver. Makes sense. Most East coasters don't stay up late enough to watch West coast hockey. - tkecanuck341
In fairness, why would they recently? |
