Obviously, that's why you picked Pettersson. |

If none of the other low seeds get eliminated, aren't the Rangers the most deserving of the teams that qualify???????
That's ok, I'll see myself out. |

I want my Oilers in the playoffs, but will gladly take the pick as we knew as soon as it was announced that a play in loser would get it that Edmonton was being set up to lose. |

I wonder how many people realize Aho is only a year and a half older than Petterson... |

Wake me when Lafreniere is better than Svechnikov(ten bucks says never). And that's not a knock on Lafreniere whatsoever. |

I get you are trying to generate interested in an article, but this mindset is maddening:
So tell me...
If you are a fan of the eight teams in: Are you better with them going to the playoffs or a shot at Lafrenière.
Why would you prefer to forego a chance to succeed now for the "possibility" of being better later. I'm sure he is a very good hockey player, but is he Crosby/McDavid level, or is he closer to Nico Hischier? |

I'm no insider, but I think more on a level with Hughes or Eichel-lite? |

Habs are the biggest losers if they beat the Penguins....they are not a playoff caliber team without some sort of elite scoring up front...yes their D is gonna be strong starting with the new Russian kid,...and Caufield coming up on the wing...but that's it..Tatar, Domi, Armia, Byron don't cut the mustard...and Gally is 30 next year....they need some talent for KK and Suzuki who showed this play off series that they are the real deal.... |

Umm, Ok Ek. Let's start with some facts:
Pettersson
2018-19 = 66 points in 71 games
2019-20 = 66 points in 68 games
Sebastian Aho:
2016-17 = 49 points in 82 games (Pettersson wasn't even in the NHL at this age)
2017-18 = 65 points in 78 games
2018-19 = 83 points in 82 games
2019-20 = 66 points in 68 games
So let's annoint Pettersson as a superstar but demand that Aho put up points more consistently. Got it. |

There is something wrong with this whole play in or chance for #1 pick. The #1 pick SHOULD go to a team that needs help, not to a team that loses in the Stanley Cup play in. NHL needs to get the lottery fixed, or is the FIX in. That said, Winnipeg needs help, and is western team. If Pens, Rangers, Edmonton or Montreal get #1, ,there needs to be an investigation. Edmonton specifically, with World best player and this year MVP. Wrong, Wrong and Franking wrong |

So, Hughes is an interesting comparison. Is Laf head and shoulders better than all the other options in the draft? I would say that Kakko and Dach are just as good.
Whatever... I just can't stand when people say I would rather my team lose for the chance at a lottery ticket. |

It’s always the same answer. Players and coaches are not wired to lose. As a fan of hockey, I want the teams to play to win, and hate when we see teams sell off assets to lose for a lottery pick.
I really don’t care if Montreal or Chicago take first seed, or if Edmonton or Pittsburgh take it (or any other team for that matter).
I care more that teams like Buffalo continue to flounder for no good reason even with quality picks |

agree. Plus if they advance they seem like an easier team to beat for Caps or Bruins

It is called a lottery for a reason. It is the only thing that keeps poop teams from full blown tanking.
Quit whining and enjoy that hockey is on. I am positive you wouldn't be crying if the Sabres caught luck in the lottery.
