I’m saying not having Muzzin was a real deciding factor, not any of the players you mentioned. - bartsch
Muzzin didn’t help winning game 4 when Werenski was out. No goals doesn’t win game 5 unless Muzzin was counted on to score. Could it have anything to do with loading up the 1st line & nothing left to support it? |

It's not the players as much as it is the whole culture of the club. Although some personal changes would be good too.
The Leafs have a culture of congratulating themselves too much when they do something good. Last game they ended in an amazing way, so the next game they think they can (frank) the dog and win. |

Dumba isn't the answer. We need D who can play D. Trading Nylander can probably get you close to landing Brodin, Pesce, Manson, Ekholm etc. Those guys are all on teams who could use a young 30 goal scorer. - celinedionpha9
30 goals guaranteed with who as his C? |

You have to realize injuries are part of the game and should not be used as excuses. So you score zeroe goals and Muzzin is the reason you lost, give me a break. I do agree that Muzzin was a force until he went down and it did hurt the Leafs chances. One other thing people are overlooking is John Tortorello, the guy is the best coach in the nhl imo. He did not used to be but he has learned from his mistakes earlier and is an amazing teacher and motivator. - joegreif17
Leafs should hire Torts then?

Tanev is hurt too often. No thanks. And no to Dumba. - Steven_Seagull
Tanev didn't look hurt scoring the series winner the other night.
Seems if you are not stuck defending in your own end most of the time injuries don't occur to D. Maybe the should be the new Leaf plan... |

As to the culture issue with the Leafs. I haven't seen all the post game interviews but i did see Marner/Matthews. Neither took any responsibility. It was 'we just couldn't capitalize', or 'they just did a good job clogging up the neutral zone'. Not enough humility. Not enough admission of playing like poop. A microcosm of the culture. |

That's not your forte just like the Leafs management were channeling your wave length went they thought this line up was a contending team. |

This is my one complaint from tonight..
I’ve tried to understand it and I can’t ... scratch Robertson ??? Bad move ...
Keefe gambled and added Andreas Johnsson to the lineup, even though he hasn’t played a game in almost six months. It was a reach. Johnsson wasn’t ready for this kind of pace. He gave the Leafs almost nothing. Keefe sacrificed rookie Nick Robertson for the clinching game. |

Look at how much depth Carolina has on their blueline. I’m sure they’d love Tavares in exchange for Slavin. Or what about to Columbus for Jones/Werenski. I’m just throwing out ideas. - SimpleJack
Lmao no
Also can't afford him. Gotta sign Svech and Hamilton. |

Agreed. It made more sense to start Johnsson game 1 of a new series than the final of this one.
I wonder how Robertson must feel.

Another early exit for the leafs. 4 years ago against the Caps it seemed like they had so much potential that with a couple of small tweaks the sky was limit. Now, you have to wonder how many changes do they have to make to win just 1 series.
For the most part, I can excuse a majority of things. I didn't like the Marleau signing, but I could understand why they did it. I wasn't in love with the Kadri trade, but I could see why they thought they had to do it. There is just one thing that is inexcusable to me. After 4 years, that fact the leafs are still relying on Marincin to take a single shift in a do or die game, is a complete failure. I'm not blaming him for the loss, because it wasn't his fault. It's just what he represents. A complete failure to improve.

Dubas couldn’t convince Babcock the scam would work. Keefe just took his promotion and you can’t blame him. Keefe is an AHL coach just like Kyle is a AHL GM. They are both punching way above their weight.
Who knew the Shanaplan would be so (frank)ing soft? |

I can't believe there are people defending Andersen. The goals he's letting in in deciding games are not due to bad D.
And to be clear no player has gotten more credit than Freddy these past few years. - RogerRoeper
I know...if he would have made that save in the 3rd like he should have...the leafs would have only lost 2-0!!!
Facts matter. |

But he was scoring a goal against stalock though...and he totally sucks like the rest of his team.
St.Louis...yeah...they don’t suck.
