Well, I dont see how you pass on JT. That is not the problem with our team. Dubas is going to need to jetison someone to get defence. Willie or Marner + I would dangle for defence. We need at least 2 quality defense. Holl and Marincin are trash. Muzzin is good. Reilly is awesome but needs a partner. Dermott is not a top 4 imo. We have 2 top 4 d. Also, yes we need toughness. Get rid of a few guys like Johnsson, Kap, Kerfoot or whoever and get heavy guys. Get a heavy guy for the top line with Matthews and some guys for the bottom 2 lines. And for the love of Ballard teach these guys to play a defensive system. A good example is the Quinn years. They had offence, but it was everyone back playing defense and no 2 on 1s, etc. Block shots, hit, pack mentality. You play that way with guys like AM34 and you will go far.
Andersen should never put on a Leaf jersey again. Neither should Willie. How many years until we realize Willie is Gardiner-esque in high pressure situations? Guy is like a deer in the headlights. I know Keefe threw him into centre, but how the hell does that too many men penalty happen In a deciding game? Inexcusable. And the fly-by stick checking!!! WTH - Hockey_Reverend
pretty much need to use Dermott/Holl/Sandin as the bottom pairs.... and find legit partners for Muzzin/Rielly
not an easy task..but hard decisions need to be made.. |

all you have to know is columbus and montreal are heading to the next round....
neither team has the "skill" on paper the leafs do... or the obscene handicapping payroll....
they have a system to win in the playoffs WHEN IT COUNTS....
leafs are a tuesday night vs the Sens built team, not a playoff team...
total rebuild is needed..... keep matthews , everyone else can go.... - CarlitoBrigante
Well, I wouldn’t jettison everyone. But a handful to change the style of team, absolutely. Andersen, Willie +.

lets wait more than one 5 game play in round before we say who is built to win in the "playoffs"
Montreal got legit insane play from Price....and we saw what cbj did with thier goalies.
people need to take a deep breath here |

Agreed. Those guys are fine for bottom minutes. But we need 2 top 4 guys. Get 2 top 4 guys, a new goalie about 4-5 heavy forwards (jettison guys like Engvall, Johnsson, etc.) and teach them to play defense first and this team could do some damage... |

Umm, have you been watching the Leafs the last 4 years in the playoffs? We have been ‘holding our breath’ and its the same each year. Many people (fans and media) have questioned the construction of this Dubas team and if it can win when it counts. So far it has failed miserably. So we going to wait another year to get bounced in the first round? |

So since Montreal beat Pittsburgh, does that mean that Pittsburgh doesn't have the system to win in the playoffs?
Changes are needed. But jesus christ you "blow it up" guys are insanely (frank)ing annoying .

That is what is so frustrating. The core pieces like Matthews are here. We need to get a stud defensemen, but then it seems to be more supporting cast changes and tweaks. For 10 years we were looking for a number 1 center to replace Sundin. We got Matthews. For 20 years we were looking for the number 2 center to get depth. We got JT. We have the main pieces OTHER then a defense or 2 and a goalie who doesn’t choke.... |

Who is proclaiming them success models? Our team is not built for playoff hockey. It’s simple. Montreals win you could smell a mile away. The Price factor. Columbus’ win you could also see. The minute it was announced they were playing Columbus I said ‘ugh, Boston-lite, here comes a loss...’ |

I actually thought Holl played really well this series.
If the guy is bottom pairing, step up to 2nd pair when needed, he isn't the one hurting you.

I'll say this much. If you happen to win 1st overall you have the capital to quickly reshape the team and be far more dangerous in the playoffs.
You might not like the cost, but there's a huge void that needs to be filled. Even without that pick, reshaping the team is paramount IMO. I'd go for a down year. |
|

Everyone calm down... its all fine.
This season was stupid. Getting beat by a Zamboni driver? Getting beat again by ‘Boston-lite’ Columbus? Where are the Dubas lovers? What is your defense now? |

7 goals
https://twitter.com/Chart...tatus/1292796808381505536
6.8 ...7 ...all the same.over 5 games
Goals vs expectation
CBJ scored two fewer goals than expected based on their shots. But they also prevented 7 goals that should've been. In a 5-game race, that was enough to stymie TOR and plunge Leafsland into a four-month referendum on roster construction. |

I hope to never see marincin, ceci, barrie or holl in a leafs uni.
I thought holl was ok at times and bad at others, but keefe plays him too much.
Hes a 3rd pairing guy |

Andersen has been an issue in deciding games the last 3 years.
He’s not the only issue, but it’s time to move on. I turned the tv off after that second goal last night figuring it was over. Goals like that just kill a team. - Kinger34
Is this just a reaction to the 2nd goal last night?
Because Freddy had a .936 sv% in these 5 games.
I dont get why Leafs fans would want to move on from him. Doesn't seem like there's another guy ready to take over. He played 60 out of 70 games this year |
