We gave up more goals then the Ottawa Sens this year, Iโm going to go cry now.
Bye. - Garnie
yes we are one of the worse defensive teams in the league.
But those stats don't count, must be questioned by some.

Any GM that would trade a correctly priced, true #1 D for an overpaid, prima donna winger that vanished repeatedly in huge moments, should immediately be fired.
Jones?? itd have to be Marner and Reilly. a 2nd line winger and a quality puck moving 2nd pair defense...and maybe a pick - ThundernLightning
Marner, Reilly and a pick now?
GTFO with your bullpoop.
My turn now:
Sabres trade Jack Eichel, Rasmus Dahlin, and a second round pick the Columbus for Seth Jones.
How's that sound to you? |

Assuming the 6/7 D and 11th/12th FWD's are 750k-1Milly a piece the Leafs have about 2.7 million and two guys to sign - Mikheyev and Dermott.
That's already too tight and doesn't allow for any additions.
Combine that with the need to reshuffle for the expansion draft and moves are coming.
You move Kapanen and Dermott out ....and replace Kappy with Robertson ...and you've got about 5 Milly to re-sign Mikheyev and slot in a D partner for Rielly.
What's Mikheyev get this offseason? - The Law
That's a good question. He had 8 goals and 23 points in 39 games and then 0 playoff points in 5 games. I like Mikheyev, but that is not a performance worthy of a significant raise. He made 925k this year. I think $1.1 for one year, or $1.3 for 2 years on a show-me deal? It would also bring him to UFA, I think. If I was Mikheyev a one-year show-me deal might be ideal because he could pack his poop and go back to the KHL if the offer isn't there in 2021. |

I'm ok with questioning 40 million for 4 forwards, but really, the Marleau contract is not on him. And another aspect is Marleau was a 4th line winger getting top 6 minutes by the cocah. He really needed to be off the team.
Please refer to Penguins fans on their thoughts about Marleau in the playoffs this year. - RogerRoeper
People can chew dubas all day for the contracts, but I don't believe for a second these same people would have accepted passing on Tavares outright and letting these kids hold out all season. Welcome to leaf nation. |

Not so much on Marleau but the domino effects from cap issues. If we kept 1st round pick, maybe with Kap and/or Dermott, we could have gotten something for defence. - gamerdoc
If we kept the 1st we had to keep Marleau. If we kept Marleau we wouldn't have been able to sign Marner. It was an absolute necessity to trade Marleau. And the fact that it cost a first rounder is Lou's fault for giving him 3 x 6.25. |

Sorry...but the idea that Reilly is even close to Dahlin is a joke, and of course...the BIG thing...Theres a difference between a center that plays in the dirty areas and a 160lb winger that disappears in the biggest moments.
Lets do it this way....would you trade Marner and Reilly straight up for Eichel and Dahlin??? Damn right you would....and THAT tells you all you need to know about how silly you sound...
Reinhart and Risto are closer to Marner and Reilly than Jack and Dahlin. |

Engvall's 2 x 1.25 makes me think Mikky gets more. I'm guessing he goes for a 1 year show me deal at around 1.5. |
