Todd Cordell: G1 Calgary Flames vs Dallas Stars: Low-event hockey

Let the next series begin! Flames need to play with the same intensity as last series! Todd, I agree, Bennett needs to continue on where he left off, no easy shifts. Maybe the #1 line is taking all the heat because the other team is focusing more on them allowing Backlund and company more room to operate. To me it doesn’t look like they’re not playing without any intensity, other team may be taking our 2nd line for granted allowing them more room out there to operate.

One thing that I don't agree with is Ward's tendency to play top line versus top line.
Monahan started more often in the D-zone which is unusual. If you want the top line to score you have to use last change to your advantage. Where Dallas has home ice for G1 and 2, we may get more favorable matchups. Hard to believe, but that became apparent in the WPG series with games 3 and 4.

Everybody hopes he keeps on rockin' on the PP. We just wish he wakes up at 5v5 as well, which he hasn't been doing in more than a year.

Hey when our opponents are playing their top D against our top line resulting to it being a little easier for the rest of our lines to keep doing what their doing and play they way they have been I’m all for it...I think that our top line will be scoring timely goals as they keep playing a two way game...The team that has all 4 lines rolling in every series usually hoists the cup...As long as our top line puts pressure in the Stars end and keeps drawing penalties against their top pairing doesn’t necessarily mean they are failing...
Anyways I frickin love seeing the flames intense forcheck and team play so far and their attention to detail away from the puck...
If they can play their game against every team there is no reason why they don’t have a shot!!!
Anyways hope everyone is having an awesome day and enjoy the game...

Also, the Flames offensive punch since award took over was much improved.
