So you think someone is going to offer sheet him? - Cptmjl
i think its poss more than 1 team does. theres a couple of teams stacked with picks and cap space and crying for a top center.

Imagine letting trotz go after a cup and 2 presidents trophies and replacing him with his assistant and then firing that guy after losing to trotz in the playoffs....... what a terrible decision that was - Upstate_isles
Saw your post after I posted.
I totally agree. If I own the Caps, MacLellan would be gone as well. |

Barzal has to agree to go there. Don’t think he would agree to go. |

I predict Ovi will be an islander before his career is done, possibly in 2022 |

true, but wouldn't lou be forced to match to avoid him leaving? how much will he leave on the table to stay? wud be a great barganing chip for barz
sign him before he shops around.

Reirden fired. They thought he was the better coach and didn’t negotiate with Barry and Lou scooped him up. The GM of the Caps should be fired for that mistake. - nyisles7
yep they must have experienced replacement on the hook. wonder who

Well he’s making 10 million now and with our payroll looking forward and the Cap freeze he would have to take a huge discount to play here. I just don’t see him doing that.
Don’t get me wrong he’s everything our power play lacks and would love him here but I just don’t see the economics there to make it happen. |

Yeah so a few you pointed out the my comment of the Flyers being a nasty team was a little out there. I have to admit I must have been having a senior moment. I was probably think back 40 plus years.
Anyway I think this series will be tougher just based upon their goalie. When the kid is on he is awesome.
Lastly, it appears Hall a Johnny Hockey are in play. Does either one makes more sense? Who do you move to make it happen?

There is but it almost never happens. With that said Barzal could be the player that makes teams think about an offer sheet. He has to want to sign one though and I’m beginning to think he’s happy enough here where he won’t... |

cud be right. if hes staring at 2 or 3 mil more each of 7 years things could change
hopefully lou makes the right offer and doesnt play too hard |

all that adds up to $10 mil to $1 mil? seems a bit over dramatic to me. maybe somewhere inbetween. my thinking is if Ovi sees a chance to win again and reunite with Trotz, he might bel very compromising.

Listen that happens I’ll be all for it but I think it’s a long shot honestly.
Also wonder how much the KHL will pay him to play a season or two there? If payday at the end of a great career in his home country. |

If a team wants to offer him north of ten million and he wants to sign there then so be it. Not that I want that scenario to happen but we’ll take the picks. A GM can do a lot having a guaranteed 2 first rounders for four seasons. |

Wouldn’t be ideal trying to keep our core together but don’t let the door hit you on the ass on the way out. |

Would be very tough to lose Barzal but getting those picks back would not be bad at all. |

Yeah believe me I’m in no way saying this is the favorable outcome but it kind of is what it is if he wants to sign with another team. I don’t see that happening as I said in an earlier post I believe he’s pretty happy here from what I can see. If it were to happen having two first round picks for four years it would be much easier to make some trades (especially with the cap being where it is for the foreseeable future) to get us back on track much quicker. I’ll also add that I think Barzal is probably one of the most exciting players in the league to watch but I don’t believe he’s a ten million per year player. I think he can be but we’re not there yet. |

im with you on this. i didn't know the comp would be 4 1st rounders. i also believe that mat will be worth north of 10 mil in a few years. just wondering what hell cost per 8 years. islanders are already becoming a desired destination and it is only going to get better. my dad (big isle fan0 is really happy wang croaked. |
