Trade them both while they still have value. You need your best players to show up for big games. |

Monahan and Gaudreau demonstrate the difference between complementary players and legitimate star players. Even complementary players can rack up regular season points. Monahan and Gaudreau on a team with a MacKinnon or Boeser or some such, and they'd be fine. But they are not the leaders of a team. FWIW, I don't think Hall improves that either. If the rumours are true and he's going to CGY, it doesn't solve the problem IMO. |

Todd, seems like a lot of the minutes JG and SM played were against theother team 4 line. |

Be careful what you wish for...
Marc Savard, St. Louis, Hull, etc
If the return doesn’t absolutely blow you away you don’t do it!
Gaudreau & Kylington to Ottawa for Tkachuk?! Does Ottawa say no? - Clyde334
Exactly what I was thinking, more Calgary running players out of town. JSGigeure, Iginla, Fleury, Niewendyk, Vernon, Phaneuf, (do we count James Neal? not in the same calibre).
When you get tired of Tkachuk can you send him to Winnipeg? If you are really frustrated with him it could think of it a bit like banishment if it helps flames fans feel better. |

Treliving has been trying so hard to bring a game changer to Calgary, can you imagine Kadri sporting a Flames jersey...what I’m trying to say is I honestly do have absolute faith in BT...
It’s not his fault that Neal was brutal and yet a lot of us were stoked when he was traded her but resulted to disappointment...Fans were pissed about Looch but as BT said he got home because he brought so much more to the team then Neal would and after Looch started getting is passion back look at him now, IMO, his story is such a beautiful thing...
Maybe all we need is a dynamic player to play with JG or SM or maybe it is time to let one or both go...but at the end of the day I believe in Treliving that he will do his best to make the team better by either making serious moves or r not screwing up a move....
Heck I’ve always wondered what bringing a solid coach can do too, nothing against Ward... |

The whole Flames Playoff our typical 3rd Line was rolled out as our #1 line. A 3rd line that had a center playing with a torn tricep since the 2nd game in. So it was better to send out a center that couldn't take draws into the most critical offensive zone faceoffs than it was to send out the typical top line? Ya I would say there is some issues with that Top line. I love Mony and Jonny and not necessarily traded but at the very least I think they need to be broken up. The book is out on that line and other teams are not afraid to play against them.
My armchair GM brain is looking at teams that might be in a situation to want to fast track a mini rebuild of a team and I think The Rangers look like a good fit as a trade partner for the Flames. Strome and Buchnevich look like interesting forwards and Lindgren and DeAngelo look like interesting defensemen. Plus they have 2 1st round picks in the bank (But no 2nd at the moment)
If I was Tre I would be gauging what the going rates are on Gio and Backs. I love both those guys but this might be the right time to get the most value for them.

Dear lord - if you're going to list guys run out of town... pick guys run out of town. Those were just a bunch of trades that needed to happen |

2 is worth more than 7 and 8. Yep, math checks out.
Tkachuk isn't going to be captain of the Flames. He's gone in two years. He's already tired of the fans. |

The only player not going anywhere is Chucky. He is the next captain of the Flames.
There is another small list of players likely not available (Dube, Rasmus, Lindy, Mang) Tree will explore trades on the rest of the players and make the best deals available that can better balance this roster. |

The only thing I would be concerned about about breaking up monahan and Gaudreau would be teams finding out monahan’s true value. I’ve always been a fan of his but watching him it seems like he stopped developing around 3 years ago and became complacent with being Gaudreau’s passenger. Even in his career year last year he didn’t appear to drive play or be noticeable except on the end of Johnny’s playmaking highlights. I would be open to moving him to wing to see if a reduced defensive responsibility gives him a spark but right now his trade value is that of a low end number 1 C. Split him and Johnny up and he’s likely valued as a 2nd line center |

Chucky Monahan Bennett
Johnny Lindholm dube
Lucic backs mang
4th line ( I really don’t care what mix they use )
If you want to switch Bennett and Lindholm that’s fine
