May not meet your requirement of having no business in the NHL but my pick is Riley Sheahan because he can kill penalties - BWJumper
I'll take Matt Martin. I actually want Martin - need someone to slow Matthew Tkachuk down. He's not really a heavyweight but he'll answer the bell |

One thing about Laine is that he definitely is on the Rick Nash career trajectory. That's exactly where I pegged him at the beginning of this season. |

Ideal trade for Laine:
To Buffalo: Patrik Laine, 2020 first round pick, Adam Lowry
To Winnipeg: Jack Eichel |

Not nearly enough and I doubt the Sabres would want to risk salary negotiations with Laine.
Maybe something like Connor, 10th overall, Roslovic and Heinola gets them to listen. |

Can’t hurt to have another one. If Sheahan is half as good in his own end as Lowry and Copp, he’s a nice pickup - Rexypoo
Problem is, if the Jets pick up any experienced hockey players, Maurice will play them. He could get away with it before because Appleton and Harkins had waivers exemption before, now they don't. So it's either play the young guys or they are press box bound.

That’s a solid pick, you clearly put on your Maurice hat for that one. - Ross77
Ok - I'll play. 31yo Sam Gagne |

You obviously don't know how good Eichel is. |

Nash was really f*ckin good. He retired a top 6 forward in his mid-30s |

Eichel is the true definition of a generational talent.
Too bad he is stuck in that Sabres wasteland! |

Yes he was was good for 25-35 goals and 25-35 assists a year!
That is what I projected Laien to be and last year you said that was an underestimation of Laine's ability.
I am glad you finally agree with me! |

Oh, I’m on the same page. I want no one added up front that isn’t named Cirelli or Danault |

I’m thinking of 40 goal, physical monster Nash |

How many of those seasons did Nash really have?
Go check, the numbers will surprise you. |

I think you're half right. Mike Smith was the GM for Winnipeg that drafted Teemu. - Napolean-Mennonite
Pretty sure it was Fergie |

I would trade Laine if the return was right. Or we could try again to find someone that can play with him.

I would trade anyone for the right return. But Connor should be the first of our big 3 wingers to go if were desperate enough to consider it |

I always find the argument about getting a special player to make Laine a special player fascinating.
I think if Ehlers was given the same opportunities as Laine, he truly would be a special player. Unfortunately due to Laine's super high draft position, Ehelrs gets lost in the shuflfle. I always wonder how many more goals the Jets power play would have, if Ehlers were in Laine's power play position. |

Like Laine, Nash is/was incapable of making players around him better. |

Connor is the best of the three. He is the only one that consistently goes up against other teams top lines.
And if memory serves me correctly, he had 4 primary assists, the night Laine scored 5 goals. |

This is incorrect. By the time he called it, he was a better play driver and defensive forward than he was a sniper |

Laine doesn’t even get opportunities, the hell are you on about. He’s got an aging Wheeler being constantly targeted on the Powerplay, and the worlds slowest set up man in Pionk.
Outside of that, he and Ehlers get identical treatment. No centre, and rare opportunities with Scheifele. |
