Well there’s no way we’re rebuilding and Tre hasn’t given any indication that we’re retooling yet. Fan base here is divided, some want to sell off everyone, others just want a couple tweeks, some are happy with the way things are going.. Thank fuk we’re not in charge.

Well I hope Treliving doesn’t trade our 1st unless we’re getting one back. Easiest way to manage cap is to bring in talented draft picks on entry level contracts.

The only way our top end talent is traded is if top end talent was coming back. Getting picks does not guarantee anything, unless the right player is chosen. Lots of times that doesn’t happen.

At this point I’m thinking the flames are bringing in a new coach...I doubt it would take this long if they were sticking with Wardo. Top 3 candidates...

To be fair we haven’t seen a market like this in awhile...besides over paying for someone else I think he’s made it work without trading away the future...now is the time to lock in a legit #1 though.

Nah I think they're very valid but Treliving is shrewd. He'd never send Monny packing for the sake of it - it's gotta be a clear upgrade (win-now mentality).

Ignoring the fact that he took an expansion franchise to the Cup final in year one? Or that he took the Panthers from a 29 win team to a 47 win team in 2 years?

Not to say Ward couldn't do those things, the team clearly played better under him than Peters, but he's more of a wildcard than Gallant. Gallant is a legit NHL head coach and that shouldn't be ignored just because Ward put the team on a decent path in 42 games.

Sergachev is an absolute known quantity at this point and has proven himself at the NHL level to be a top pairing type dman. Valimaki, we hope he gets there, but has such a history with injury that it's hard to say if he'll hit that ceiling.

Agree, there's no way Treliving would be thinking about a rebuild. I like that Lucic did well under Ward and the team seemed to come together as the season went on. I hope Ward is back and maybe they add a couple of players Ward likes. Another year or two of Talbot makes sense too. IMO, the further Dallas goes, the better Calgary ends up looking. Would also like to see Brodie back if they can get him on another reasonable contract.

I am thinking we will see a bounce back year from Gio as well. It was a pretty sharp decline from last year to this year.

Would you do JG ($6.75M) and Backlund ($5.35M) for Cousins, Okposo ($6M x 2 years), and Risto (5.4M x 1 year) and LHD prospect Pilut (who is not going to sign with Bufflo)?

Buffalo gets out of 2 horrible contracts and gets a legit playmaker for Eichel and a good 2C.

Calgary gets their future 1C and a possible top 4 D in the future.

I do not claim to be good at these proposals but if we are retooling it takes on some bad contracts to get us what we need.
