I don't like the concept of trading for a player's rights. I know all teams do it now. Habs have extra picks to burn. But still I'd rather draft an actual player and hope I can find the next Datsyuk or Zetterberg in the later rounds. Even though I know the chances are very slim. I want as many kicks at the can as possible.
Edmundson hasn't signed yet. He might sign in Montreal or not. I won't lose any sleep over it if he does. Yzerman has plenty of options. He doesn't need to rush into anything. We're not competing for a Cup for the next few years at least. I'm looking forward to seeing who else becomes available in this Wild West off season we're about to encounter. |

No doubt, we need to draft really well. I do think it will be a wide open market. Players who waited for UFA as opposed to signing early are going to be disappointed... |

I concur!
As for Veleno, I don't think he is going anywhere unless the player coming our way in a deal is the "best" player in the deal. NY Rangers needs a 2C, I think they go else where, maybe bring Stephan back, I am sure the Yotes will entertain many offers. I floated a trade on the NYR blog: Trade #1 to LA for #2 and Alex Turcotte . NY would draft Byfield or even Stutsle and have 2 centers in the waiting. Of coarse another wrinkle to this trade would be for NYR to include B Smith and a pending RFA as a sweetener, either LeMueix or Georgiev. Turcotte is progressing very well and may not be ready for #2 yet....but he is projected to be at least a #2. I would like Stevie to have NYR's "problem". Wow! |

I still have Brendan Smith nightmares from the 2013 playoffs. Jimmy Howard already took enough years off my life. |

I agree on not trading for the players rights. I still have plenty of faith that Stevie Y will come up with equal or better move. |

Was your response a bit like Wesley in “the princess bride?” Hapless weeping in a pit of despair? I’ve been there! |

I can appreciate that. Trading for an RFA would be good, but a UFA is a bit of a gamble |

No. He sucks. - Feds91Stammer
Ok, but next time use your feeling words. “I feel like he sucks and it hurts my feelings”.
He may, to your point, be someone that gets a higher than value offer |

Can somebody please buy this gentleman a dictionary? Between 3 botched names and using a word that typically describes the granular characteristic of a sand trap rather than where you may find one... I had trouble taking this seriously. The thought was there, but I truly loathe lazy writing. A punishment in our hockey draft one year was for last place to spell all last names and drink when he was wrong. Henry... you’d be the mascot for Vlasic! Absolutely pickled. After all of this, interesting thoughts. Just frustrating to read.

Quick side note, are you feeling good about Zadina’s overseas play? I think you’ve been a good advocate for him. I love the player for sure |

Even though I'll always be bitter about Holland drafting Zadina over Quinn Hughes (the guy I wanted the Wings to take months before the draft) I'm still hopeful Zadina can be a 30 goal scorer. I believe he has the right attitude and is ready to take another step forward next season. I just hope he can stay healthy. |

If Montreal can get Edmundson to sign in the next month, a 5th will be well worth it! |

I too, had wanted Holland to draft Quinn Hughs. But at the time I ended up being convinced by many that DRW was very fortunate to have Zadina fall to them. Now I am not so sure. Don't get me wrong, I am not down on Zadina, but.....Quinn Hughs is someone that is awesomely spectacular!
