Switch Rafferty for OJ
- VANTEL

That might get it done, you still need to shed some money to make that happen. I'm sure Lefty's buddy has spoke with the Wild on Dumba.

IMO that won’t matter one bit, if he signs long term, it’ll be for 8-9 million for eight years. Him and Petey are two kids they’ll commit to with money and term, and for good reason.
- Pacificgem

If you can get Petey for under 10 for 8 years, you take that in a heartbeat, regardless of Covid.

Ideally you want to keep them both. D still needs work.
- VanHockeyGuy

I didn’t realize how badly our defence sucked until I watched good teams in the playoffs. It badly needs another puck mover, more speed, and way more size & grit.

How long do you think NHL owners bleed money for before they say enough?

I can see Canucks having interest in Dumba . I don't think it is Boeser that would go.
- VANTEL

JB's been pretty adamant on not trading Boeser. The rumors were the same then as now, and he shot them down.

I see him talking to Minny about Dumba, though.

Switch Rafferty for OJ

And Switch Dumba for Ristolainen.

- VANTEL

Despite his lack of defensive awareness at times, I’d take Risto 100 times out of 100 over Dumba.

I still think that deal of Jake Gaudette and a prospect D go to Buffalo not Minny and a contract like Sven or someone shipped out also.

They need the players more than Minny

I think you’re being a bit disingenuous, the majority of NHL owners don’t make their money from their NHL team revenue, they are extremely wealthy people who own their sports franchises for the fun of it. They might be crying the blues but they’re not hurting when it comes to generating revenue from their actual main sources of income.

Their other businesses are taking a beating also during the pandemic. Didn't you report two days ago some NHL owners are looking to sell?

But the worst is over, Terry Pegula, for instance, is currently worth 5 BILLION DOLLARS, so sure he may set an internal cap for the Sabres but that’s just good business sense. He’s not bleeding money.

It’s the guys like the one’s who own the Coyotes or Hurricanes, who’re only worth a couple hundred million who are looking to get out. Most of the guys are extremely wealthy

He fired his GM Scouts and staff and now are trying to dump contracts. New Jersey also . Yotes look in great shape

Signing an older slower Toffoli in order to trade a younger, talented Boeser would be a backwards move.
- Marwood

But you need to look at holes. If you can fix a massive hole on D, but only create a smaller one on the RW, you do it. It improves the team as a whole. TT is kinda better than Boeser overall right now. Boeser will have the better career, but we have young guys that can replace what we lose in Boeser as early as next season, or the season after.

He fired his staff because they couldn’t manage to improve their team in the time they were there, they deserve to be fired, not because he has no money

It depends on if we sign Toffoli, and how much impact Benning feels that Hogger/Podk will have. Dumba and Hughes give us a legit top pairing the likes of which we have never had.
- Retinalz

Edler had more points than Dumba in 10 less games. At this point Dumba is trending down...no thanks. Sign TT and Keep Boeser. Should be able to dangle Pearson and JV/Stecher. With TT and Boeser here it gives us a legit top 6 which we haven't had for awhile. Yes the D needs work but building around Hughes shouldn't be all that difficult.

- VanHockeyGuy

Because they’re not even close to being competitive, I think they’re trying to start over again plus he’s probably trying to save some money in the process.

The only team that spends to the cap when you’re finishing bottom five in the league is Jim Benning and Francesco Aquilini

They will have no problem of reaching that goal even without moving their star players out. They are a cap floor team with or without their good players.
