Like they built around the Sedins?
- A_SteamingLombardi

Well I don't know about you but having a team around the Sedins that got us within 60 min of that cup was a pretty good thing no?

A backwards move is letting TT walk for nothing.
- VanHockeyGuy

They went deep in the playoff thingy, he helped but I'd rather not sacrifice the future to cover the calculated loss of today. They took a risk, probably a year too early. Move on and put some money aside for the near future.

Maybe we need Mike Gillis back then, because Benning couldn't build anything around the Sedins.

Because they’re not even close to being competitive, I think they’re trying to start over again plus he’s probably trying to save some money in the process.

The only team that spends to the cap when you’re finishing bottom five in the league is Jim Benning and Francesco Aquilini

They will have no problem of reaching that goal even without moving their star players out. They are a cap floor team with or without their good players.
- VANTEL

They’ve been spending to the cap max under Botterill the whole time he was GM, from what I’ve read they wanted to purge the rotten culture within the organization.

Seven more years of Skinner at 9 mil
Okposo has a worse deal that Loui.

Eichel has 6 more years at 10 mil and he doesn't want to be there .

The team is smooth sailing

The Sedins in their prime were a little different than the Benning years no?

Should we go after Doug Wilson for not being able to build around an aging Thronton/Marleau??

If Benning is still here in two years I’ll definitely be dropping the Canucks and adding Seattle as I have no connection to Vancouver, never having lived there.

Unlike people, such as Vantel, who became Canuck fans when they moved to Vancouver or BC, as an island kid I’ve been one since they came into the league, however, like a bad relationship, sometimes you just have to know when to cut your loses and move on....something you’re probably acutely aware of

The more the Canucks improve the closer you become to dropping the team. No surprises here.

Didn’t know Hasso Plattner, who owns the San Jose Sharks, is worth 12.4 billion dollars even after the recent market decline....holy crap

Vegas in on Pietrangelo

Was reading Cam Robinson yesterday he warned against going after OEL. Lots of years left on the contract and he is starting his decline.

They’d need to move a boatload of money to do that. They have the least amount of cap in the league.

Humans have a hard time understanding large numbers. We just don't deal with physical things over the hundreds. So the difference between a million and a billion is big, but we don't comprehend how big.

1 million seconds is 11.5 days.
1 billion seconds is 31.7 years.

So ya, 12.4 billion is a (frank)ing ton
