There’s definitely the means to get picks back in the fold, just don’t trust Benning to get it done, it’s not something he’s been particularly good at in his time in Vancouver. He ALWAYS says he’d like to recoup picks, but never does.

I know, he'll say the price is too high.

It also means there will be some great sleeper picks this year, wouldn't you like a shot at one in the top 2 rounds?
- VanHockeyGuy

If Jr hockey did come back in Jan it would mean almost a year of no development , no scouting . I don't see Canada allowing fans back in arenas when Covid cases are on the rise . I can't see owners paying for bus rides , hotels meals and other expenses with no gate income.

As Nucker would say I see Canadian Jr Hockey in Shambles. I would turn my attention for the next two years on other ways of finding talent like scouting Europe.

There won't be an AHL, so Canucks will loan him to the SHL, or maybe they will do an ATM, Agreement to Terminate Mutually.😁

I would say find a new construction site and give him the Jimmy Hoffa treatment.

“No Swedish goalie has won the Cup, not even as backup. If you look at this list, Sweden has had only two NHL-elite goalies (Lundqvist, Lindbergh), several "good-enoughs" but not on contending teams. Swedish NHL-goaltending is behind Russia and Finland.“

I think Junior and NCAA hockey is in trouble and wouldn't be surprised to see some top junior players heading to places like Switzerland.
I could see some splinter leagues start up, for the minor leagues.
An example being a division create in BC with Kelowna Kamloops Abbotsford Langley and Victoria being a place where the NHL could house several players, less travel while trying to keep players in some type of bubble.

I see a few players heading to Europe , but there are only so many jobs and a lot of the men's leagues don't want 16 and 17 year olds. Parents with a lot of money can put them in development leagues in Europe but again only applies to a few.

I am not sure about splinter leagues because again someone has to absorb the cost. On top of that they would need to create and organize which would take a year.

I can see BC Jr teams folding TBH. I think it was Everett Silvertips that have already talked about folding.

Wouldn’t that be nice, however, I think Markstrom is gonna price himself out of Vancouver.
- Pacificgem

i think a bidding war will price markstrom out of vancouvre. cant blame him for taking those offers back to jimbo and stretch out some extra $$

Sorta seems par for the course for younger players in the KHL, but hard not to feel as though its wasted development seeing him play sub 12 minutes a night and go from 13th forward to 4th line and vice versa.

They know he wants to play in the NHL and they stunt his development out of spite

When he is playing minutes the puck is usually on his stick and he rarely is on the ice when the other team scores. Today he has moved up a line and they have not been scored on but his previous line has been on for two of the three goals against.

Now moved back down to fourth line

Friedman says the NHL has discussed a Canadian only division for next year, where there wouldn't be any cross-border travel. Not something they want, and would be part of a major realignment for a season, but it's an idea they're entertaining.

It would give teams like Canucks Leafs Sens and Jets a chance at winning a cup after expansion.

Maybe we could call it the Trudeau Cup

Sounds reasonable. I don't see cross-border travel anytime soon. Not for at least another 6-12 months.
