BRODS! Raising hands

The #mnwild has signed defenseman Jonas Brodin to a seven-year contract extension.

7 years, $42M for Brodin

- VanHockeyGuy

I seen yesterday a list of players Minny are targeting this season and Brock was on the list. Will we see a Brock for Dumba?

Not really comparable players. If TT wants that, it 100% won't be with the Canucks.

His 6 mil per only kicks in in the 2021-22 season also not next year.

You also can't use a Defensemans contract in talks about a Forward. IMO anything less than 5.5x5 for TT we should do it. If he is wanting 6 or 7 years and 6m+ we should let him walk.

Didn't someone say the other day the offer was like 4.8 x 4 years or something for TT?

I go as high as 5 per x 4 no more. Long term contracts for free agents will bite you in the ass.

I'd go a little higher with 5.5 being the highest I would go in AAV. I would also pay more real dollars in years 1 and 2. That way if we need to offload him in years 3 or 4, it will be easier.

Toffoli is a forward Brodin is a Dman, I see no parallel. Tanev on the other hand...

We know Tanev is not considered as valuable as Brodin as Brodin is healthier, younger, and puts up more points. How much lower of a contract does that translate to?

I know JB didn't list him as a top priority but I still could see the Nucks bringing him back. I think he really doesn't want to leave.

It would give teams like Canucks Leafs Sens and Jets a chance at winning a cup after expansion.

Maybe we could call it the Trudeau Cup

He could, but he’s still got some good hockey left in him. Why spend it sitting on a bench if he could spend it playing for a team that wants him.

If someone gave me 7 mil a year to live in Vegas as long as I sat on a bench and pretended to care about game results, I might be tempted.

He will be 36 by the time the next season starts and his contract runs out when he is 38. He will probably not get another contract so the question is where would you like to live NJ Buff Edm Cgy Ott Det or Vegas.

True enough. I can’t speak for the guy, but if it were me I’d want to spend what limited time I have left to play to be actually playing.

Goalie is a different position.
You never know what's gonna happen and you're starting again.

i'd for sure stick with Vegas if i was in his position, having already won a couple cups.

But it’s their competitive drive that separates them from the rest of us. I don’t think that drive goes away easily. Even with age and success.
