Sharks need a lot of things, a goalie is one of them. It will be interesting to see the goalie shuffle this season as there are a number of them able to move around. I would hope we could take one of are really large contracts and move them away. Karlson would be my first pick to trade away, his value is not anywhere close to what he is being paid, sadly that makes moving him and picking up a really good goalie not possible. With that in mind bringing on Talbot could be a decent move but I don't think it will be game changing by any means.

Just wondering why you don't start with Jones and have Melnichuk back him up. If the Russian kid is as good as what I have read give him a chance to back up if he shows he can play in camp. Greiss is probably the best back up available but he is likely to get 3 mill plus. Talbot is hit and miss but not the answer I don't think.

Agreed on Talbot, don't let his playoff run fool you. Leopards do not change their spots.

I don't think that Talbot is the best choice. We need to see what happens with Jones first and the new defensive system that Boughner puts into place second. Both of those contributed to the Sharks poor season than a back up goalie. I will be interested to see how Jones plays with an extended period of rest as he had played the most minutes of any goalie the past 3 years. Kevin Woodley, a "goalie guru" described Jones last year as barely proficient as an NHL goalie and one who hasn't adapted his game to the new NHL style of play.
I would keep Karlsson and move Burns to forward, or trade him if he refuses the move back up. Burns was a forward his entire young life and has the muscle memory of a forward, which is evidenced by Burns consistent poor positioning and his significant time gaps before he reacts to the play in his zone. Plus, we don't have a Pavs to tip in his shots anymore so his scoring will continue to decrease.
There will be enough proficient options for a backup goalie that we should be able to sign and that should be Priority 3 or 4...A new and improved 2nd line to replace Pavs, Donskoii and Nyquist is the first priority

I don't think Jones is the guy that will be a #1 for us. He is paid like one right now but his play deteriorated so much I don't have faith he will bounce back. I feel at best he will be an expensive backup. And we need so many more things this next season or three are going to be painful.
