Buff is still on the rumour chart...so I'll take Ek's word for it over Friedman and an agent. Montreal is in on this. Toronto too. |

Adding drama by linking his name to any team is ridiculous. Anyone who knows Dustin knows that he's done playing. He isn't motivated by money as was clearly evident by his willingness to mutually terminate his contract. If he was motivated the jets would have traded him and he'd have kept his salary.

Jets Insider Ross77 had this scoop a month ago. Props.
Sad to see the Big Man go. One of a kind and a true gamechanger. |

Just goes to show you buyer beware when signing guys over 30 to big money contracts. Most thought at the time it was a good deal for the Jets being only 5 years long and the Jets couldn't even get that out of him.
Keep that in mind when the Jets are looking to sign 31 year old Scheifele and Hellebuyck in 4 years. |

Never say never. Never is right now.
But, if a team is in a very good contending position come late in the season, and if Buf is feeling good health wise and a tad bored at home, don't be surprised to see him come off the lake ice fishing to add a defensive punch to a team down the stretch.
For a contender only, even if the contender is Wpg.

Enjoy your retirement Buff. I just wish your last days with the Jets went smoother. |

In hindsight, considering his injury problems and then Covid, Buff did make the right decision. It's also possible to assume that he may have opted out of the playoffs anyway to do what is truly his favorite sport.....fishing. Buff does whatever Buff wants so it's not stretch that he might have done just that. All in all its money better spent elsewhere for the Jets instead of having to sit on his contract another year.
Great player though. A pleasure to watch.

I’m sure BFF Toby getting driven out of town by Maurice didn’t make him want to stay that much, either
(Sorry guys, gotta stay on brand) |

Have to assume chevy has been in contact with Briesbois in Tampa about centers and D. |

I am confident that Chevy most likely took the day off! It's his motive operandi. |

He messed up. He should have come back and gone on LTIR and he would have both been able to retire and still collect his money. He should fire or sue whoever gave him the idea of retirement. |

At the end of the 2018-19 season, Buff was told by Jets medical staff that he needed ankle surgery. He did not think he needed it or did not want it and signed off accordingly.
When he found that the ankle was still an issue (2019 pre- training camp) he found himself in a predicament and that’s where the story that the public knows begins.
Jets did everything by the book. Buff left 14 million on the table. His choice. |

Really wonder what the real story is behind Buff's decision to pack it in, there's obviously more details that fans haven't been told and something obviously rotted the room that caused the 18-19 season to implode, gotta think that the Buff saga relates to that.
He was obviously not a happy camper at the end of the regular season when Trouba was still on the 1st powerplay unit and he was sitting on the bench, I remember the stick smashing incident, was obvious there were a lot of unhappy Jets that season.
What a sad end to a fan favorites career, without knowing all the details I wish him and his family well and happy fishing! |

That's terrible, I hope the Jets charged him for destroying it. |

Because it was about Dano, Rexy started a Go Fund Me campaign to pay for the Zamboni repairs |

I am glad he took the bull by the horns and did something about it. Shows great leadership. |

Another Laine trade idea. A friend of mine suggested it to me yesterday.
To WPG: Tomas Hertl, Timo Meir
To SJ: Patrik Laine, 2020 second round pick |
