Depending on whose on the board, id like to see us move back and pick up a 3rd rounder if we can.

I think the reach would outweigh the feels. Might help us get Alex, though. But I wouldn't draft him for that. |

I'm so glad they weren't given the opportunity to take a dman - jcragcrumple
It wouldn't have bothered me. As we've seen ad nauseum over the past however many decades this league has been in existence, your team needs now are different than your team needs 3 years from now, when that pick is ready to play in the NHL.

If they hadn't taken a forward their team need still would have been forward in 3 years. Their forward prospects were super thin |

Not necessarily. You can stock your prospect cupboard via trade as well. The Sabres did that with their d corps with the Jokiharju trade. Hockey is the one sport where you always draft the best player available, no matter the position. Baseball is a close 2nd.

I've read and watched multiple pieces discussing both players and their game tracking basic stats and advanced data this past season.
Yes, Quinn is better in some aspects than Rossi, but Rossi is better by far in many, many other aspects and that's what separated them as prospects to me and many others. - kingcong39

That was the last time I bought the jersey of a third liner (Pommer)
I know Vanner was a high 1st, but the other 2 were middling seconds, and that's why you need to hit on them. - TheSabresTaco
Well well well

I do agree on an intellectual level. Doesn't mean I have to like it. Our defensive depth is very deep and our top end forwards are non existent. I'd like to see another forward at 38, then I couldn't care less if they went all dmen or not. |

I'm not saying I'd love it either, but if Jake Sanderson ends up being the best player to come out of this draft, for example, there will be a lot of revisionist history going on in here, regardless of the fact he was picked before Buffalo's spot at 8.

I don't disagree with the sentiment. On that note, I'm shifting to a Jack Quinn stan account. |

And if Rossi turns out to be a star and people say I’m full of it like when I said Draisatil would be the better player then I have a ton receipts. |

Agreed, but my overall point is, passing on the best player available because he's a defensemen when you "need" a forward or vice versa ends up being a foolish move 99.9% of the time.
What you're referring to is the flip side of drafting who you think is the best player available. And that is "you had better be right". |

I have no problem saying I was wrong if Quinn's a zero and Rossi's a hero. But if one is Point and the other is Pastrnak, still bringing the apology form. |

We've gone thru this before.
2nd round pick, worked his way up to captain
Multiple 30 goal seasons
Nothing "given" to him.
Coached his sons hockey team (, while in the nhl)
Big part of successful teams
Boss type player = pommer
2nd overall pick
Soft, slow and doesnt give %100
Richard off the ice
Loser teammate full of losers
No captain or even an A
25 goal scorer riding shotgun to eichel
See the difference
