So I have seen there is a possible Sabres/Devils deal in the making
I don't know if it's true or not, but I have heard Butcher's name mentioned what else is being discussed? - Stripes77
Where did you hear or read about Butcher? I haven't seen that at all anywhere. |

Y'all could very well be right. Which is fine as it pushes some prospects like Rossi down the ladder towards Buffalo - Michael Pachla
And I believe the hype in Askarov goes to NJ or Ottawa hes just good to pass on |

I don't put it on the sandwich, but a little spicy mustard to dip in pushes it over the top for me. Geez know you got me thinking of it, might have to go out and get some, and have a few sandwiches for the game. |

That's even better. There's the big three and, apparently Perfetti. If Ottawa goes Askarov, Anaheim goes Drysdale meaning Buffalo has a choice between Raymond, Rossi and Holtz. That's a good position to be in |

If Askarov is as good as some are saying and is available when the Sabres pick I would think long and hard about taking him.
If he turns out to be a franchise goalie within two years then the whole team will be better. The D will be better, they can change their system to take more risks offensively, their D gets better just by the goalie making higher risk saves. The forward they take will most likely not be ready for a year or two either and make less of an impact as a franchise goalie.
Also, I read in an article that this draft is so deep there will be some good players taken in the 7th round so if the Sabres do their homework they might be able to get a solid forward in the 2nd round and later. Just an argument for the goalie instead of the current sexy forwards. |

I would trade sam for a pick and take Askarov at 8
And maybe get Lundell with the sam pick around 12 ( hopefully) |

I am of the opinion the Sabres are not close and need lots of help.
Yes they need to make some trades (Staal was a good start) and sign some free agents, but hitting on 8 with a guy who contributes immediately fills one hole. Staal takes care of another.
Some in the top 8 will be busts so I don't want to see the Sabres develop another guy for a year or two. I know it may be a short sighted approach, but it is where I am at. Start winning and having a pipeline filled with prospects becomes less important. Suddenly players want to be here and it is easier to fill out the lineup. - The Don
The opposite is true, as the key to sustained success is having a steady and consistent influx of ELC production year after year.
But what really craters a franchise is constantly buying high and selling low, and they're absolutely about to do that very thing again with Montour. |

We have no idea what the market for Reinhart is especially with no contract and him wanting 6-7 mil a year and if Lundell is there I would bet most teams would want a cheaper Lundell.

I haven't heard anything on butcher and after his rookie season he has been a bit disappointing and he won't get much in a trade |

I could see ottowa and while the devil's don't have a goalie in the pipes they have lots of other holes so I don't think they will go that way. |
