Corey Pronman on Quinn
Quinn had a massive 18-year-old season in the OHL, scoring 50 goals as a leading player on the best CHL team and breaking out into a legitimate top prospect. He scored a ton of goals, but I wouldn’t really call him an elite sniper. Rather Quinn is just a super skilled and smart player who scored a lot of goals around the net. He has very quick twitch hands and the ability to embarrass defenders 1-on-1. He sees the ice at a top-end level even though he didn’t have nearly as many assists as goals. It’s not just his vision, but his overall creativity and patience. He often saw plays on the ice that I couldn’t see materialize. The main reason for his sudden rise in stock was the continued improvement in his skating. It’s not a strength of his, it’s no longer a weakness, but it will be his main hurdle for the NHL level. Quinn is solid off the puck, playing PK for Ottawa, although I wouldn’t call him a physical player.
Andre Tourigny, coach of the Ottawa 67’s, on Quinn: “He has a lot of skill. He has great hockey sense, he’s smooth, he can shoot it, and competes away from the puck. - Leninthebuff

Maybe they didn't like rossi ?
Perhaps something off ice related ? 🙂 - Boss34
I truly believe they like Quinn not only more as a complete player, but a stronger impact player. Even though today, Rossi is better. But so was Del Colle and Sam Bennett |

Perhaps, gasp, they think Quinn has the higher ceiling. People don't listen to these interviews with Adams very well. He basically spelled it out. "Where do we see these guys in three, four, five years" - TheSabresTaco
Ok, then they absolutely lied about taking a data oriented approach.
Unless you are Kim Pegula and have all that info that us fans don’t have access to?
Quinn could be excellent.
But when I read for months that Rossi could be as good as the third best player in this draft, while most scouting services have Quinn in the mid first, and he jumps without playing a game? Yeah, color me skeptical |

TJ Oshie was my player comparable for Quinn before we passed on my favourite player of the draft.
So yes I may have overreacted there.
Fact of the matter is, we took a guy at 8 and there were better players on the board. |

Mukhamadullin has No. 1 potential. Russians have thought so for several years. There are shoddy reports on his game circulating around the web, but he was in my top-31 for half the season before dropping him simply because I watched more players. Off the board pick but promising

You're welcome to be skeptical. We all should be. But pretending this is some kind of travesty without actually knowing how both players will peak is an exercise in futility. He's a very good player that time and again overcame heavy adversity because he WANTED it. I can think of another guy who did that.
And you know what? The Sabres could use a (frank)ing guy who wants it.

I’ll be rooting for Quinn.
I always say these things end up luck half the time anyways.
But I think we could’ve gotten an enormous steal in Rossi. Dude can use his talent at really high end speed like Eichel (To a lesser extent) and is exciting to watch.
Quinn is a lot less exciting to me |

In your opinion, you mean. Not "fact of the matter".
Let's revisit in 4-5 years and see where they're all at. |

the problem is you’re taking draft experts too seriously and using what you’re reading from them as a barometer of how you should be feeling right now. they’re wrong more than they’re right. we got potentially the best pure scorer in the draft. let’s see how it plays out. |
