Without saying so, #Sabres GM Kevyn Adams appears to suggest Johan Larsson is hitting free agency.

By the sounds of it I believe people may have been right when they said they won’t qualify Montour either.

He danced around questions around RFA today

I think the Sabres would be a better team, if they kept Reinhart, with him on the 2nd line and an upgrade on the 1st line.
- GilPerreault11

I did so in my post after yours...
If he then is a 2RW, I would not pay him over $5m ... which means they better trade him since the Arb will give him more than that.

Yeah I saw that and I wholeheartedly agree if they get something they want in that blockbuster I proposed.

No, you also have used pure speculation and bias in arguments. Like has been stated, he's solid defensively. Not Selke good, but more than serviceable. His biggest thing is clearly lack of footspeed. He's by no means fast. But somehow, he still seems to keep up. Is it possible he thinks the game (the cerebral thing that you say he doesn't have) one step ahead and is generally in the right spot. Like I've stated, he may not be the end all solution to the team, but he's hardly been holding the team back either.

Here's a question...
Perfetti sounds alot like that description...
At 8, rank your select from among:
-Rossi,
-Raymond
-Holtz
-Lundell
-Perfetti

Rossi for me stands out above the rest. Raymond won't be there I would assume, and Holtz has a (frank)ing cannon which is great, would love that.

Rossi, Holtz, Lundell, Perfetti for me, although I get why the anyone would switch them. They all have one thing or another that's keeping them out of the top 3. And Rossi's thing is that he's small. Don't be dumb, small doesn't matter as much now. He's going to be right up there with the big 3, if he continues to develop like I think he will.

Okay Larson I understand

But montour has some sort of value. Even as an RFA

Whoever they pick, he needs to be able to really skate.

Sick of always being the (seemingly) slowest team in the league.

So, given the banter here on the Prospects, your ranking seems about right.
I'd go Rossi, Raymond, Lundell, Holtz, Perfetti.

The point is, IF Perfetti projects to be Reinhart, sounds like a decent portion would rate him at pick 10 or later this year. Maybe that is an indication that Sam should have been picked much later.

Sure, if that's the argument someone is making.. 7 years later, I'd rather talk about what kind of impact the guy on our team NOW is making. Is he a net positive or a net negative. Not a what-coulda-been. Sorry, we've been having the discussion on/off for at least the last 4 years. It is what it is, and if you took my post as some indication that he was correctly drafted at 2, well then you misread it my friend.

I love how people fawn over the makeup of a losing team, then another losing, then another losing, then another losing, then another losing, then another losing, then another losing team. Then there is Skinner who is part of a losing, then another losing team and both played on 1st or 2nd lines. When they play on the PP, especially Reinhart who plays on the 1st line, the PP, OT and some throw up their hands and say it is not his role or his fault or, I forget all the excuses. I never understood the love for Reinhart and never will based on his numbers and the 10 game breaks he takes. Few other fan bases would protect him like this.

It would be like a team with a great QB and his supposed stud WR was meh and fans still said he was good enough.

Its probably 50-50 with sam .

You have the sam lover (s) and most people around here think he's good. I particularly think most of his points are a result of jack eichel being a top 3-5 center in the league.

That's my opinion.

I dont like soft players. I like hard workers. Guys that try more than their talent allows.

I pay good money for exciting plays and exciting players with speed . As a season ticket holder.

Where the player is drafted overall in relation to nhl success isnt "just a buffalo" thing.
Its important to live up to expectations or at least come close. Or play the position you were drafted to play (center)

Missing on leon isnt his fault.

Off ice sam is kinda a D!ck. I know 1st hand. Why give any benefit of any doubt to a D!ck?

We have losing with sam as our "2nd best player" for 6 years. How this doesnt get old, is beyond me. Not just Sam, but new faces are necessary.

He is probably better than I give him credit for, but not nearly as good as the sammer's think he is.

Well Olofsson played 15 games less then Rhino and Rhino only had 8 more points than Olofsson, so I think Olofsson probably would have been pretty close.

Good post

And picked 179 picks later in the same draft.

Are we allowed to ask for more from Sam? Yes
Is Sam a successful 2nd overall pick? Objectively yes, considering the amount of busts that have come, historically.
Is Sam a top line player? Yes

While a player, no matter if it's Jack or Jake, can always be better. But when is a fan content?

- TheSabresTaco

Solid Taco

Very reasonable

Sam has great durability. Compared most recently to Patrick, obviously sam looks better.

I just cant overpay sam, on Jack's talent.
Hope the Sabres feel the same way.

Aren't you sick of some of these losers?

I dont care about the Reinhart debate one way or the other really, but considering our other organizational RW options include tall guy and concussion guy, I'd keep keep him in the fold
