I would be down (again, cost dependent on what Schmaltz would take.) This roster would vastly be improved from years prior (still on the outside looking in though.

My point was that the “what would have happened” game people always tend to look at it through a positive lens, when it very well could have been worse for us from a player personal standpoint (obviously can’t get much worse then not making the playoffs for a billion years).

Yeah, but Sam didn't have an impact that first 9 games (this isn't a criticism of him, not many 18/19 year olds can). Who says that Drai isn't running on incredible adrenaline and scores a couple of goals and we win 1/2 more games. Sorry, that is a real scenario that people are just ignoring. We are then drafting Strome at 3 and BLAHHHH

The purpose of my original post was to talk about asset management.

I think we can all agree that the Mojo for Staal deal was a good trade considering what we gave up to get him.

We are all in agreement that Sam is a good player, however it was essential that he be a good player.

Also, whose to say we don’t take Marner over Strome in that doomsday scenario.

Leon and Marner would not have been anything to sneeze at either.

I think all of Leafs nation was praying for the Yotes to take Strome that year and there were several people whom thought it was a toss up at that pick and the Yotes picked wrong

So just coming back from blocking out the Sabres and the NHL for months to protect my mental health. I know nothing about the top guys in the draft lol

I’m a little concerned since he was a late bloomer but can’t deny the production.

He was a week away from being in last years draft and went from 12 goals to 52 this year.

I have heard multiple times that the league is interested in permanently moving the start of their season to either 1/1 or 12/1, and play a full 82 games, so I wouldn't assume they are playing a shortened season.
