I saw that Pronman has us taking this Quinn guy. Is that concerning?
- Punch70

Should it be? We'll be here in 5 years to condemn or rejoice in KA's pick off the board.

Pretty slow around the league...especially for draft day. You’d think some deals would happen in the morning but nothing yet. Maybe by noon things start to pick up
- Stripes77

With how valuable every dollar seems to be with the flat cap and no fans impact, it's quite likely that 1st round picks, i.e. ELC players have more value than ever.

Why would anybody give Tampa or Pittsburgh a 1st round pick for any of Tyler Johnson, Killorn, or Matt Murray? That would be lunacy.

not news news. Simmonds is being set free.

A key initial sign that the org gives a poop about analytics.

Jason brought him here at the TDL to get him to re-sign here.

That picture was classy AF.

She wasn't nude, she was almost nude. AND she was holding a bottle of A&W root beer.

I’m a little concerned since he was a late bloomer but can’t deny the production.

He was a week away from being in last years draft and went from 12 goals to 52 this year.

Player comparable would be TJ Oshie.

- Pegullaville

So older guy in juniors putting up numbers for the first time. Yeah that's a bit of a red flag. Thanks for the info.

The purpose of my original post was to talk about asset management.

I think we can all agree that the Mojo for Staal deal was a good trade considering what we gave up to get him.

We are all in agreement that Sam is a good player, however it was essential that he be a good player.

Also, whose to say we don’t take Marner over Strome in that doomsday scenario.

Leon and Marner would not have been anything to sneeze at either.

I think all of Leafs nation was praying for the Yotes to take Strome that year and there were several people whom thought it was a toss up at that pick and the Yotes picked wrong

- Pegullaville

I remember how starved we were for Centers (I mean, we still are like 6 years later). Doubt we go with a winger, when you say they were considered a toss up. My point was, again, when we play revisionist history, we tend to look at it through a positive only scenario. I'd rather talk about Sam now. But it's all for good conversation, so I get it.

Then we are talking about how we traded the pick for so and so instead of drafting so and so

Would be amazing but does it fit under the cap?

Plus Stamkos would have to waive. However how funny would it be that he didn’t want to go to Toronto but would come to Buffalo?

My main worry about him is his health. But it’s a pipe dream anyway.

- Stripes77

https://www.capfriendly.com/players/steven-stamkos

Stamkos has a $8.5M cap hit, but check out his salary the remainder of his contract:

20-21 - $1M, as his $8.5M bonus has already been paid
21-22 - $6.5M bonus, $1M salary
22-23 - $5.5M bonus, $1M salary
23-24 - $5.5M bonus, $1M salary

I’d take Simmonds over concussed Larry. But we are stuck with concussed Larry and Simmonds fits no where else in the line up. Oh well. Thanks for the truculence Botts! 🙄

The Center issue is why my ranking would be: Rossi, Raymond, Lundell, Perfetti, Holtz.

Simmonds is virtually done as a player. Him signing with a division rival of the Sabres only helps the Sabres.

I say that despite really liking Simmonds as a person.

Agreed. Rossi is my top choice, but I know most think he won't be there. Raymond is too talented to deny if falls to 8. Our choice will prolly be Lundell, Perfetti, or Holtz.

The Leafs are reportedly really interested and they are one of the largest Analytics teams in the league. I think age has something to do with this.

In the instance that the Sabres do decide to take a d-man.

There better be a trade in place to bring in help up front for both the short and long term.

Not every move is defined by analytics, and bringing in Simmonds would be against what the analytics say.

I think Dubas is feeling the heat from not having truculence.

Simmonds can come in on a vet minimum deal and provide some size in their bottom 6.

IMO Simmonds gets at 2-3 mil on a 1 year deal.

I think for the Leafs in particular, they see themselves getting physically dominated in the playoffs year in and year out. Simmonds may help in this, instead of paying the same for Ennis on the 4 line. Just a thought.

Totally agree, but if you had to choose concussed Larry at 4rw for god knows how much longer at 6 mill per or simmonds on a 1 year deal... I’d take truculent Larry over concussed Larry....
