Calgary moving down again, they're just adding picks left and right lol

My guess, the next thirty players are all similar in projected success

So Quinn's upside is comparable to Patrnak. I don't believe we've picked a winger with that kind of ceiling in this century.

He did not play with his teams' best players, most of his goals were at even-strength, and a lot of his goals were him deking one or two guys then bam it's in the net...not just cashing in on great passes coming his way. His reflexes and instincts are off the charts. He had little ice time in 2018-19 cuz he was on a stacked team and he took advantage of his opportunities this past year. Great shot.

And he only has one chin, allegedly.

Hope he's a 1rw for years to come.

Does anyone know if in the history of the NHL if any players ever developed to be better than their initial projection? JW
- TheSabresTaco

Yes some players do, usually later round players.

Top 10 players are held to higher standards.

Usually they fall flat because of that.
See Buffalo Sabres the last since basically forever.

The question was posed as to who makes the other better. Of course Quinn said they made each other better

I'm wondering what type of center they want, a more proven one who they can depend on or a cheaper one like Mitts who they have hope in his prospective talent.
- GilPerreault11

I am surprised they want another C with Dubois, Domi, Foudy . Maybe they want a young guy that won't cost much. Gotta pay Dubois and Domi

It’s not year over year growth.
Point totals last 5 years playing in leagues with his peers
62
52
46
32
89

Regression as he moved up in the leagues followed by an explosion.

- ImThatGuy

The 46 point season was not in the OHL.

32 was his first full year in the OHL, followed by 89, his 2nd.

Marco Rossi, 65 points first OHL season.

120 points his next.

Outlier?

That doesn't fit the narrative
- TheSabresTaco

Lol, it just seems to me that the choice was between a playmaker (Rossi) and a goal scorer (Quinn), and they picked the latter. Now the question mark for me is why would you worry about NHL team needs when drafting a kid that is a couple of years away from making an impact. Maybe they think Quinn can make the team in December?

Quinn just started working out hard recently. He's gonna need to add a little more beef even though he has an nhl frame

Corey Pronman on Quinn

Quinn had a massive 18-year-old season in the OHL, scoring 50 goals as a leading player on the best CHL team and breaking out into a legitimate top prospect. He scored a ton of goals, but I wouldn’t really call him an elite sniper. Rather Quinn is just a super skilled and smart player who scored a lot of goals around the net. He has very quick twitch hands and the ability to embarrass defenders 1-on-1. He sees the ice at a top-end level even though he didn’t have nearly as many assists as goals. It’s not just his vision, but his overall creativity and patience. He often saw plays on the ice that I couldn’t see materialize. The main reason for his sudden rise in stock was the continued improvement in his skating. It’s not a strength of his, it’s no longer a weakness, but it will be his main hurdle for the NHL level. Quinn is solid off the puck, playing PK for Ottawa, although I wouldn’t call him a physical player.

Andre Tourigny, coach of the Ottawa 67’s, on Quinn: “He has a lot of skill. He has great hockey sense, he’s smooth, he can shoot it, and competes away from the puck.

Perhaps, gasp, they think Quinn has the higher ceiling. People don't listen to these interviews with Adams very well. He basically spelled it out. "Where do we see these guys in three, four, five years"

They did the opposite of what Adams said in his presser...they drafted for need

DUMB DUMB

Maybe they didn't like rossi ?

Perhaps something off ice related ? 🙂
