If Lou decides to trade a vet or 2 for futures(picks), it would most likely happen prior to the draft this week, so things could get interesting quite quickly. |

I agree expect anything this week. |

Ben was referring to forwards, so your list becomes Wahlstrom, Bellows and Ho Sang.
1) Wahlstrom has only 50 AHL games under his belt, and just 25 points to show for it. In his short stint in the NHL (9 games), he had no points at all. Promising prospect for sure, but hardly a lock to make the jump successfully as of now.
2) Bellows apparently has little love within the organization. They’ve already tried to trade him once, and I think they’ll shortly do so again. He did look good in his brief stint with the Islanders though.
3) Ho Sang was exposed to waivers last year. The Islanders don’t want him. Nor does anyone else, or they’d have grabbed him for free. He’s probably KHL bound. Not a snowballs chance in hell that he ever dresses for the Islanders again.
Sooo... I’d say Ben’s point still stands. The cupboards aren’t bare, but the pickings are slim. |

Agree on 1 & 2 however on JHS, the Islanders have made him a qualifying offer Swchein. This tells me either the Islanders have had discussions with him and will give him another chance ( which as you said I doubt ) or they have had some interest shown in him from a team or two. Why else would they give him a qualifying offer?
Interesting to see where he lands. I think we may get the answer in the near future.
Just my opinion of course.

Wahlstrom is 20 yeasr old now and was drafted as a VERY high end prospect. They have worked to get him to play 2 way game and more as a power forward, but there is no question in my mind he will get a very good chance to play this year. If He and/or Bellows shows up ready in Camp they will be on team.
I think Ho Sang makes the team this year too..
Yes, I am insane.. .but I have been right before (Mayfield, Beau, Toews)...
been wrong too (often), But I don't want to talk about that.

Sebastian Aho (the #Isles one) has signed a two-year deal with the team, the second year is a one-way contract. Aho, 24, hasn't played an NHL game for the #Isles since 2017-18 but was part of the bubble taxi squad in the playoffs. He has 105 points in 156 games with Bridgeport.

The #Isles have declined to give a qualifying offer to G Linus Soderstrom. The 24-year-old won a Swedish League title for HV71 in 2016-17 and has battled injuries ever since, including nearly all of last year. He's currently playing for Assat in Finland's Liiga. |

Not sure how this works (Chiefs?), but doesn't a qualifying offer preserve the Isles' rights in JHS? So if sometime in the future, another NHL team shows interest in him, they need to negotiate with the Isles? |

That's kind of too bad. I had hoped Soderstrom might at least develop into a depth goalie. |

Oh I think Wahlstrom will be a quality NHL’er sooner rather than later as well. But I’m not sure that it’ll begin this season.

Yep. Issuing a QO, whether it's signed by the player or not, allows the Isles to retain his rights even if he leaves the org for Russia/Europe/etc...
Eventually that option (for the Isles) runs out when the player is eligible to be a UFA. But until then he's still Isles property, regardless of whether or not he signs it |

Yes as Chief asswered. They qualified a whole bunch which is basically following protocol on players they want rights to.

Hey Ses you can still call for Aho to get playing time for the next two years |
