Maybe try explaining it to the armchair GM's...

I'm not waiting for those guys to catch up and figure out the modern NHL. Teams all over the place are up against the cap. Many teams have contracts they wish they didnt. Staying competitive is the issue.... and teams can manage that with a competent GM. It's the new normal in the NHL. Just take a look at the teams that start the season every year with plenty of cap space... they are in poop markets and are going nowhere. That is hardly any measure of success.

On OEL I cannot see the Bruins getting him & fitting him in without losing assets they need. The Canucks are in a better position & even that is a difficult juggle to pull off.

NTC’s are a big hurdle for them. Only Johnson has agreed to a list & none are young.

I wonder if Cal Foote is available. Take on Johnson with Foote coming back would be a win to me.

Imagine dumping Loui and getting OEL and then taking Tyler Johnson with Foote coming back. That would be a big win for us.

EDIT: this kind of asset management would also allow us to sign Marky.

They are up Schitts Creek can't even qualify their star RFAs and stuck with a bunch of old overpaid players. Let one of their best Dmen walk for free

To be honest I think 80% of the teams have cap issues under the current circumstances. Some just worse than others. Canucks are kind of in the middle.

Cash wise many teams are hurting to add to that.

I think he is over rated a bit. I seen him play a few times last year he was just okay . Don't get me wrong , he was not bad but there are much better options.

Johnson or Foote? I think Foote will be a top 4 RHD and could instantly become OEL's partner. Johnson could fit on Bo's wing or as our 3c and his contract is buy-out friendly at any time if needed.

Tbh we are not in a position to trade with TB being both teams need cap space. TB is in a world of hurt cap wise & if GM’s are smart they squeeze like never been done before. In the end we can expect a weakened TB team next season. A boon to the Atlantic division but by how much who knows.

Crazy to think but TJ is 30 years old. Not sure Canucks should add a small 40 - 50 point player at $5MM/year for four more years. Foote isn't super appealing to me either but think should keep options like this open for sure.

We are bunched right in on the high side with Boston Calgary Minny LA Dallas .The teams after that group are the teams that haven't reached the cap floor. We will sign two good players and bring in two or three ELCs. Just another normal year.

I thought Rafferty was a tad better than Foote. I seen them play 3 or four times head to head. Others may disagree but very comparable.

Marwood thinks the Canucks salaries are coming out of his weed budget or something.

QMJHL started Friday and Quebec government has already shut down some of the Quebec teams already.

For the record I don't believe no players tested positive in the bubble but it is over so it does not matter anymore
