The Myers signing is still weird to me. He's always been more of an offensive dman and yet his PP time is more inconsistent, he's a PK regular and he's seen ice time with Edler playing against top lines. Square peg in a round hole.

I wasn't thrilled with the Myers signing but don't think it was a terrible move by Benning. There were very few options available in FA and while the price and term are high, they are not beyond expectations. He makes the team better, but I do agree they've used him strangely.

I predicted low numbers for QH because I thought Myers was going to get the bulk of the PP minutes for at least half the year and they barely used him.

For sure, but we've seen this story before. Benning is a straightforward guy, when he mentions a need publicly, he does whatever it takes to try to fill that need.

Dillon doesn't meet his puck mover criteria so I'm definitely expecting an OEL/Barrie/Krug/Shattenkirk type of addition.

Krug will take an overpayment.
Barrie we can get for cheaper I’d wager.

- dbot

Yeah, Krug apparently already turned down 6.5M per to stay in Boston, he's an American born in the East, I'd imagine he'd want a poop load to play in Vancouver.

Barrie's defensive game is just bad, I'd only take him if the term is short.

Stecher got bounced around like a mosquito in the playoffs. All heart and he does have skill but he is too small for playoff hockey.

Do you think the Canucks lost because they got bounced around too much?

Tanev wasn't a puck mover. I will wait until next week to see if I like the team or not.

I am happy to see OJ and Hogs come play for Canucks.

Then Why hasn’t he been traded if he is worth a pick?
- CanuckDon

Lefty is underestimating the deflated market for non-core players right now.

Part of the problem sure. I seen many times Stecher being out muscled.

No, Vegas was just faster and more skilled. Canucks handled the physicality of the playoffs surprisingly well.

There's a reason why Benning has a hard on for puck moving dmen right now. He saw how the Stars handled the Vegas forecheck compared to the Canucks.

It sure seems like he is insinuating Benning could gain a pick for him but would prefer if walks for nothing. Quite disingenuous

It could have been worse. They could have signed Gardner.

I'm expecting a signing like Gudas for 3x 4.

Yup. I laugh too! JB says he's ready to play. This makes Myers #2 pairing?

Yep, that said, I'm sure the contract will hurt them in the future but that's the name of the game with UFAs.
