The cheapest house that is actually nice and I’d want to buy around here is like 550k and 14k in taxes and it’s still nothing special.

I was looking in Florida and found a 3,400 sq foot house with a massive pool, hot tub and waterfall in the yard for $270,000 and 2k a year in taxes

Yeah, taxes on the river here are probably average 20-30k MD it was like 10k on the Chesapeake with double the sf on the house and way more property

We had some serious talks that, if I could find a good-paying remote job, my GF would do travel nursing (which pays a (frank) ton of money) and we could just bounce around for a year or two until we found somewhere we really loved.

Taxes are about 13k. Tenant (for now) pays $1200. So we'd theoretically have a little bit left over in extra rent money.

My parents pay just about 20k/yr in taxes for .5 acres

- eichiefs9

Insane lol. My moms were around 14k I believe. I'm paying around 2k for my house in CO

Yup. Well if I win the powerball I'm buying the house down the street from me. Its 6200 sf on the river and a measely 2.6 mil and 45k in taxes a year

My company’s been fully remote since March and hasn’t skipped a beat. 0 reason to have to go back to the office.

But they just signed a lease to add 2 new floors, in addition to extending the current 4 floors, for 12 years in Oct 2019. And then spent like $20,000,000 renovating all 6 floors. In midtown Manhattan.

So I feel like they want people to come back eventually just so all that money isn’t wasted even though it’s a sunk cost now.

Someone actually went remote full time but they made him become a consultant to avoid setting a precedent so they lose all benefits like 401k and health insurance (which is 100% free and no deductibles no matter how big your family).

Some of the lake towns further out west like Lake Hopatacong and Ringwood isn’t too bad...still probably in the 14-18k range and your commute will be pushing an hour 45 mins each way into the city.

But it’s something I’d consider if my company went to a hybrid schedule where they let people wfh 2-3 days a week.

Haven't been to Ringwood since I was a kid, but man what a beautiful area.

You guys are missing out, cardboard boxes on the street corners are in right now. Only taxes you pay are a yearly Tetanus shot

Do rangers offer Kyle turris a one or two year deal now that he is being bought out? Slides into 2c-3c depending on how well chytil is playing? Would be interesting

We have the same thing going on up here. People are moving out of Toronto and buying places in Niagara, driving up prices. They save large over Toronto prices and rent, but the commute is 1.5-2 hours in the morning and 2.5 coming home. Nasty.

That was my previous job. Leave my house at 5am to get there by 7am. It sucked

I also don't see how that is better than Strome unless the term AND $$ are significantly lower for Turris

Underwhelming return for the 7th overall pick, but decision was made to get some kind of return.

Double thank goodness it wasn’t a goalie
