I left out that a lot of it is his fault. He built the foundation to his reputation. The refs are just doing what's expected now.
- JRR1285

I just don't think he's very good on top of the fact that he has this reputation with the refs. He would never be more than a 4th liner on this team. +/- is obviously not everything but he was -14 this year (only player worse than him was Kaako and YIKES)

He has a ton of potential but the refs (frank)ing hate him. It's like that kid at school that just moves wrong and gets thrown out of class.
- JRR1285

Well that kid usually earned that reputation so

There seems to be something to this observation. But, the kid brings MOST of it on himself. He doesn't seem to be able to consistently make good decisions.

He's slow, average shot, not a playmaker, average systems guy. We can do better. I'd take Grabner, Martin and PDG over him. Fast isn't in the same conversation for me.

Edit: I really am not of fan of his, I guess. He had so much hype when we got him and he's done absolutely nothing. He isn't even a fighter and he can't even be the "agitator" we want him to be because of his reputation.

The 1st was nice, but I remember getting beat up cause I said he might never be more that a 3rd/4th liner

This draft will always be remembered as the LaFreniere draft. Having said that, we still have 7 picks left to find some more gems. Lets hope Gorton can get us another Buchnevich today.

And not-football-John-Gruden. Murray's had a rough couple years, but still a good move for OTT.

Probably would fetch about the same or maybe a little less. Murray is better but Georgiev is significantly cheaper and that matters this year

Good point.

The goalie market is wild this year. It likely forced the Rangers hand in buying out Hank. The straw that broke the camels back sort of thing.

TRADE ALERT 🚨: The Penguins have acquired forward Jonathan Gruden and a 2020 second-round draft pick (52nd overall) from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for Matt Murray. https://t.co/lag06QAFaU

Pittsburgh re-signed Jarry for three years and with expansion after next season, teams knew they could only protect one of Jarry and Murray, lowering the offer price

I know. I was just funnin'

Actually, the lede is buried there in the sense that Jarry's contract reaffirms what goalies are worth, so Georgiev should get something similar but slightly less since he hasn't been a no. 1 yet.

For how many picks Ottawa has early in this draft, that's a great move for them

Its an excellent move on their part. Theyre gonna be a pain in the ass to play against in a few years.

PIT didn't really have too much leverage either. Market is flooded with goalies which is going to drive value down, money will be tight for everyone this year and, as Jan pointed out, they were going to lose one of them to the expansion draft next year anyway. But he definitely hasn't been great for the last two seasons either.

Level 1:
Trading up to pick RD Schneider is further indication NYR do not envision long-term relationship with DeAngelo. It may also encourage Lundkvist to go UFA route in 2022 rather than sign as Trouba, Fox are essentially locked in on that side. We'll see how it plays out.

- NYRangers1124

Defenseman usually take longer to develop and make it to the show. I wouldn’t read too much into it, it could be 3 years before Schneider is ready.
