I've been watching Barron since he was 16 ( I live in Halifax ) and i'm super happy for him. I was hoping Ottawa would get him at 28 or 33, but after picking Sanderson I knew that obviously wasn't going to happen.

if he's healthy, that's a huge steal for you guys. He was projected around 13 before his blood clot issues, and is an "all situation" type player. he'll obviously be second pairing behind Makar for you guys, but he definitely has top pairing potential.

my son was super bummed Ottawa didn't take him, he has 2 barron jerseys and has skated with him a bunch of times during fan events. you guys may have a new Avs fan....

Really like this pick. Seems like he has the raw talent but needs the coaching and probably mentoring to learn better decision making skills on the ice. Avs are fortunate to be in a position to ignore the "injury question" on him and just pick up a really solid player that other GMs passed on. Looking forward to seeing how this works out.
