I think the focus should be wingers or one.
So many names hitting the market tomorrow....so many |

It's not so much that he is so bad they are paying him 2 million to go away
It's that they are doing so to save 4 million. Long term contracts almost never work out for teams. NHL GM's havent figured that out about the cap yet. In the NFL, teams sign players to 5 and 6 year contracts with the full knowledge that it's only going to be a 3 or 4 year deal, then cut and eat dead money or renegotiate
NHL contracts are different in that they are mostly guaranteed, but 7 year deals to 28 year olds aren't the same when the player is 33. It doesn't matter "that the cap goes up" because relatively, everything gets more expensive, and by then the player is in decline (in a case like Turris, some are steeper declines than others) |

Am I wrong, or does his SKATR chart from 19-20 look better than 18-19? |

Lol I thought that too but I'm not into those charts. How far off is he from someone like Wennberg? |

Result wise similar... and it appears Wennberg had better teammates as well. Unless that rel teammates means compared to their teammates... in which case Wennberg was better than his linemates and just no puck luck.

GMRW plays way too much NHL 20. Love it or hate it, McCann is 3C right now. The plan is for depth forwards. Ideally I'd like to have Shore or Fast but I'm not hopeful. We'll bring back Laffy Taffy and add an "oh yeah- he's a guy" type player. Wouldn't mind seeing Grant return... maybe I'm the one playing too much... |

McCann vs Tyler Johnson... aka... RW is a bit of a douchenozzle
They are pretty close with the exception of shot assists.... and not surprisingly, better linemates would bring up that number for McCann |

Yes, the old Turris that was making $6M per year doesn't exist any more but there is a fairly decent one who might sign a cheap deal and fill in as a good 3C.
For whatever reason good centers go to Nashville and suck it up, see Duchene and RyJo also. Not sure why but if you can get Turris on a 1-2 year deal for $2-3M per you absolutely do it.
McCann-Turris-Tanev would be a pretty solid 3rd line. Or let Tanev play up and have McCann-Turris-Kap play together. |

That's not true. There's a significant gulf in expected goals metrics. Given Johnson's teammates and these stats are all relative, the fact he's so high on expected goal metrics makes it pretty obvious he's the better offensive player.
Obviously he's a blood bath defensively. I'd probably accept the argument that they're equivalent players with one being offensive minded and one being defensive minded. I'd want both on a line with McCann playing wing. Don't think there's any way of making that work, though. |

I’d still try and sign Barrie for 4m, can trade Peterson who wasn’t strong especially in the playback series. Then give duclair a prove me contract 1.5/1 year |

Honestly, If I was Duclair, I'd be wondering how many years I have to "prove" myself. That dudes seems like he always kills it. Am I missing something? I bet he gets more than he's made the past couple seasons.

It’d be much cheaper/easier to sign wingers for McCann rather than finding another 3C. Athanasiou, Ryan, Duclair, Fast, etc... should be relatively cheap options where they would be immediate upgrades. I’ve said before I’m perfectly fine with McCann as the 3C, but give him help.

See, JR likes a puck mover for one side and a more stay at home'ish for the other side. I dont see him going for someone like Barrie and I also see Barrie, a perennial 55/60 point right handed D man, wanting more than 4 per...and most likely getting it. Plus the whole cap space issue with the Pens.
In other news, is Domenic Terrone your real name? |

So this guy didnt get a QO and I like his game. Little bit of skill, speed and grit. Both he and McCann can play either C or LW. So why not have them both on 3rd line. They can swap or take FO if other gets kicked out of circle.

I was going to ask about him. Wasnt he with Arizona to start his career? I don't know much about him. What was his last contract and what could his asking price be? |

His last contract was a mill per season cap hit for 2 years. Philly drafted and groomed him as far as I know. |

3rd line of Fast, Cousins and McCann anyone? Not sure if the money is gonna be there... could see both Fast and Cousins getting around 2 mil each. |

Hey, what does the name matter?
I think Barrie could be signed for about after the year he had. I like you don’t think JR will do it, but I would like him too.

I'd def be on board, but GMJR would have to get creative. For some reason I can see someone vastly overpaying for Fast. |

This market is now saturated with bargain talent. It will be interesting to see what players get. I think players who signed prior to all the buyouts and non-qualifiers may be the only ones to get market value. |

You may be right, but UFA day is notorious for curveballs. That being said, what's a realistic figure for Fast? Shore? Cousins? |

Would have to send out someone... I vote for Tanev as he is obviously the weakest link of our towards that have a decent cap hit., but the more likely player would be Rust if JR was making moves.
Or... he sends out McCann, those two replace him and its a 3rd line of Fast, Cousins and Tanev. |

I think $3M for Fast and maybe $1.5ish for Shore and Cousins, but Fast would be only player I’d be interested in. |
