I hope he finds a spot somewhere. Most people ive read were sure teams would be lining up, but I was a little more pessimistic since he's been on so many teams in such a short time frame.
Still lots of time though. - david22
I can't figure out why the Sens wouldn't offer him a short term "prove it" deal or longer term at a smaller cap hit.
He's got a super positive attitude, clearly fits in with the team, Skates as fast as Hoffman and can score.... I really don't see a downside.
I do think there is a chance that when no one picks him up because they have no cap room. He'll circle back to Ottawa at a smaller cap hit |

Right, but it's been reported that neither is what Duclair wanted. That said, I doubt any team is going to offer a $5Mx5yr deal for a player who's never had more than 1/2 a good season in a consecutive stretch. I could see Dorion maybe doubling back in a month or two with a 2yr "prove it" deal, but it's also quite possible that Duclair's lack of perspective over just how much of a 2nd chance his time in Ottawa has been is a source of major friction. It's also maybe telling that guys like Dadonov, Watson, and Gudbranson have all had contract lengths of 3yrs or less. You may see a similar timeframe being the max term that Dorion will offer to Tierney/Brown as RFA, just to keep the team's salary structure in line with the forecasted rate of addition by high-end young players. |

yup and Brown and tierny most likely want 5+ years, proly why they not signed yet. Gud is gone next year and Dadonov will most likely be trade bait in 1-2 years. Proly trade or buyout Zeitzev in 2-3 years. |

The Dadanov signing is fine. Good term. It will expire when the new batch of players will need contracts.
I would tap the breaks on too much excitement. He played on a much more superior team in Florida with the likes of Barkov, Huberdeau, Hoffman, etc and reaped the rewards. In Ottawa he will be the main offensive guy (for next year at least). Will he be able to handle that? Time will tell.
It is nice to score a free agent and signed him to a decent deal who was seen as "sought after". Hasn't happened in awhile. |

im getting quite interested in the sens trading for Laine, He only has 1 more year on his contract at 6.7 million, Jets only have $27,000 in cap space. Instead of signing both Conor Brown and Chris tierney, we can trade with some picks or other prospects. The sens can always trade him at the deadline for a great return. Wouldn't u guys wanna see Laine vs Matthews in a Canadian divisions this year!!!
Imagine a line with Lassi Thomson, Patrick Laine, Roby Järventie with our goalie prospect Leevi Meriläinen (G) THE FIN LINE!
Lets come up with some Trade proposals for Laine...... and go.!!! |

Sorry, I'll have to disagree. That sounds very similar to what buffalo did when they thought they could fast track the rebuild, and its part of why they're mired in their mess.
Stay the course. Im excited to see what a bunch of the propects can do this year, even if it means a painful season. - david22
Can we take debrusk off Boston? Cmon please!!!😳 |

Now that all the big names are gone, Boston doesn’t need to clear space anymore. I’d be shocked if they move him |

I'd swtich the lines up a bit, I also think Formenton will spend most of the year in the AHL (assuming there's a season).
Tkachuk - Tierney - Daddy
C. Brown - Stuetzle - Bath
Norris - L. Brown - Paul
White - Anisimov - Watson
Balcers
Chabot - Gudbrandson
Brannstrom - Zaitsev
Wolanin - Brown/Zub
Murray
Hogberg
I don't think that's a playoff team yet, but I definitely think they'll improve over last year. - sensarmy_11

Agree with this.
Duclair was history when he wasn’t given a qualifying offer. Dorion was being kind pretending the door was still slightly ajar for his return if things didn’t work out. Things have not worked out for Duclair, every day that passes means teams have signed someone else and they are getting close to the cap limit. Duclair had to be upset when Ottawa signed Daddy! There is no room to bring him back unless it is a 1-2 year show me contract. To me, good riddance, he wanted out!

Laine is a doable deal for Dorion.
Jets have already traded for the 2nd line centre (Statsny) they supposedly wanted as part of any deal for Laine.
The Jets are very thin on the back end. My guess is they will be looking for an elite defensive prospect in any package.
Should Dorion consider offering up a package including one of Sanderson, Brannstrom, JBD or Thomson?
If I am Winnipeg, I warm up very quickly to any package that includes Jake Sanderson. |

Should Ottawa be adding another LW though? Bit of a risk considering its not yet a guarentee stuz can play C.
I still don't think trades like this should be made by teams like Ottawa, but if they did...
Laine
Brady
Formenton
Would probably be the Best LW depth in the league.

Man where have you been living? In a cave? Sanderson will be one of the best NHL defensemen in 4 years. He will be the Sens best D Man in 3 years. The Senators had him ranked fourth best and most of the other NHL teams had him 3-5 in this years draft.
We have to be thankful team didn’t pick the one dimensional, smallish Drysdale who would have to learn how to play defense on a bottom feeder like the Sens for a few years.

I can't resist putting up Sanderson as a possible trade candidate for no other reason than to tweek the agitation of fans that were so hostile to Dorion drafting him with the 5th overall pick.
I would not offer up Sanderson in a deal for Laine. I would be open to talking about Brannstrom, JBD and Thomson plus other players and prospects.

One player i feel often gets lost in the shuffle of hte prospects.
I'm a little higher on him because he's so different than the players Ottawa always seems to gravitate towards. |

Since it's a slow Sunday,
where should/will Sokolov play this season? Will he be in Belleville, or will he be playing Europe similar to some of the other prospects? |

Sokolov can score goals.
Most valuable NHL skill.
If he comes to camp and can use his size and score goals he will stick around for awhile.
