You mean the offense that had the best running back in league history, running behind the best offensive line in team history? That offense? - Ogilthorpe2
Yes that one |

The defense was all world, but that offense was solid too. Above average even with their starting QB out for a large part of the year.
Payton, Suhey, Silky D, Gault, Moorehead...
Plus Calvin Thomas, Dennis Gentry, Timmy Wrightman, Keith Ortego....
Solid.
*edit can’t believe I remembered Ortego and Wrightman, but forgot Kenny Margerum |

He did call for Foles to pass on 3rd and short near the end of the game. The incompletion stopped the clock and saved the Panthers their last time out. No bueno. - mohel
Call was right. He went for the win right there. If Foles has a bit pf patience and let's Montgomery clear, its an easy toss for a NFL QB. Game over.
Game is different than what you grew up watching. They have facemask and everything now. |

They were 2nd in Offense. Put up over 450 points. 28.5 per game. |

Bears might be the worst 5-1 team in league history. - Ogilthorpe2
Maybe it's the same as being the tallest little person, but I'd much rather be the worst 5-1 team than the best 1-5 team.
Nagy botched a few things...he's gonna have to lock it down if they want to continue to win. But, that defense...oh, so fun to watch. |

Not denying that they had a good offense, but their defense contributed a few of those points as well, along with giving them good field position to produce more points. Basically the offense had one job, don’t screw it up! |

The ‘63 champs would have been even better - 10th out of 14 in offense (301 points in 14 games) but gave up only 144 - 62 better than the next team. Gave up 18 TDS in the 14 games.
Wade, Bull, Marconi, (led them in rushing with 446 yards), Caseres, Gallimore, Ditka (57 receptions), Morris, Farrington....
With the goalposts on the goal line (just as an aside). |

The defense scored 4 TDs. That offense kept the D fresh by controlling the ball and putting up points. Which allowed the D to go after the QB because they had leads. |

Nope. Call was stupid. The young announcer thought so, too. |

That is two weeks in a row, defense bailed him out both times, but not always going to be able to. - vabeachbear
Living on the edge will get them eventually. Carolina had several key dropped passes and potential interceptions. However they got a huge break on the phantom pass interference in which the call went in their favor at the one yard line. Now that I think about it more, the Bears had a few big drops too. Nice to be in first place after week 6 |

Call was really stupid last week, this week I believe the yardage for a first was a bit further, but still questionable IMO. |

When does Shaw announce his retirement? He should go be with his kids before his head gets scrambled permanently. |

The play was open. Foles threw it before Montgomery made his break. Foles did that a few times today. Many it is still a lack of timing. |

I didn't like it because they were up by 7, Panthers had 1 time out left and Bears had 2 or 3 yards to go. Hand off at least makes them burn the TO. 1st down is the bonus.
The other thing that bothered me was it seemed Foles was keying on ARob the final 5 of 6 pass plays, like Elbows said the play was there but to a different player
I appreciate only a 1 point lead vs Bucs and being aggressive, but up 7 and your opponent has 1 TO left with a notorious dink and dunk QB, let's just say I'm glad the defense closed the door. |

It’s not a question if it was open. It’s a question of whether or not it’s a good idea to call the riskier play. The safe play was to run and take another 30-40 seconds off the clock.
Edit...or make them use the TO |
