He’s definitely right that, there are no completely defensemen like Niskanen on the open market. He’s wrong for being comfortable with our defense if the season started today. Still hoping the Jason Demers rumors might be true.

If Nolan Patrick is holding up on scrimmages, his issues won’t be like last season where we won’t see him at all. I think there are great odds we’ll see Patrick play for us. To what extent, that we don’t know.

G-Couts-Jake
Lindblom-Hayes-TK
Laughton-Patrick-JVR
Bee-Raffl-NAK

Edit: yes I have JVR playing off wing, but most of his memorable moments that I recall, esp Boston 9 years ago, were going down that side. It seems he is more inclined to take the puck to net from that direction.

I see G as a third liner now? Do people forget the playoffs?

2nd or 3rd line for sure. Outside of the face off circle he’s not the impact player he once was at 5 on 5.

Younger forwards really need to start stepping up and creating offense. The franchise relies way too heavily on G and Jake imo.

Giroux is still very capable of being a first line NHL forward. No doubt.

German just doesn’t have good luck. Was hoping playing back in the khl he would catch a little fire.

And guessing with vorobyev s early success. I could see him not return at all. Shame. Kid has the tools.

The line of jvr Laughton pitlick was effective in the playoffs.

I love Laughton at C. I know it seems like a waste to have him as a 4th liner, but if that’s your biggest problem, I’ll take it.

Laughton is a significantly better player on the wing than at center.

While true. I could see them start party as the 4 th line center just to acclimate. Could be wrong but then after ten or less slot up to third moving Scott back to his wing. Even playing as the 4 c. Raff and NAK aren’t terrible wingers.

We'll revisit during the season. Giroux has been counted out before.

It’s called time to turn roster over. And at their salary they need to be moved if possible. Cap world can’t pay that type money for players that you rely on that just don’t produce. Not in top line roles for sure.

My biggest takeaway from that interview was Fletcher uses CapFriendly

Revisit during the playoffs. Revisit last season and the season before and the last how many playoffs? If you truly believe g is a top line forward still you’re lost.

Well he doesn’t use it well if that’s the case. He just blew 900k on a player that won’t hit the ice in games

Get some glasses. No doubt my a$$. Yeah no doubt he’s not a 1st line forward anymore. Dumb a$$ flyer fans. Maybe a first line pp guy yes. At best. And even that’s debatable. But capable of first line forward 5v5 yeah for a shift here and there maybe but deal with it he’s not a top player anymore.

What an idiotic thing to say. Before last season he had over a PPG with 85 points. Guy is only 33 come January. Tons of high level players play at a high level until their late 30s

He was one spurt from being a 60 point player last season in 69 games. He was not far off point wise. No doubt he had a subpar season and a poor playoffs but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he will rebound. He has before.

I agree with Chuck here. I am excited about this team going forward. The flyers were arguably the hottest team in the NHL before everything for shut down and I see no reason why we can't repeat that this upcoming season. Losing nisky hurts, yes, but I still like our D and the 3 young core guys back there
Another thing... If the schedule is jam packed with back to backs would it be a bad idea to let some of the kids get a call up for games and five the older players a night off of they get run down? Depth is going to be so important this upcoming season
It will help the kids gain experience and it could stop the old guys from falling apart
I am sure someone here will tell me that my opinion is wrong but f that guy anyway

So does this mean we won’t be playing outside our Eastern Division? Travel will be a cake-walk.
