tbh it was an emotional pick. plenty of better options still on the board
playing for NJ doesn't help him
as for Habs players, Price Weber Petry and Gally were drafted |

The trade did not look good early on (even if Habs fans wanted to believe otherwise), but it's a clear win now for Bergevin. Things happened in the opposite way we were told they would happen (we were told we woould have the upper hand first and Subban would be the clear cut better player later on as Weber would get older). |

actually I thought it never really looked bad at any point in time, although I do remember feeling a bit disappointed in the beginning since PK was so fun to watch when he was on top of his game and was one of my favorite players |

my only disppointement was MB didn't get an extra 2nd/3rd round pick, since Weber is 4 years older. but yes, good trade.

maybe this would've calmed down some of the initial reactions, but yeah it turned out to be a clear win for MB, I don't think any habs fans could complain about it today. now perhaps if Subban somehow finds his mojo back while Weber starts declining we might hear about it again, but for the moment it doesn't seem to be going in that direction

It's all the games Weber missed with the Habs : https://www.nhl.com/player/shea-weber-8470642.
That and the fact that Subban reached the stanley cup finale early on after the trade.
+ his stats are pretty good the first 2 years after the trade : https://www.hockeydb.com/...ts/pdisplay.php?pid=89716
+, Bergevin said he made that trade thinking Habs would be a contender right away. Not really what happened, to say the least. |
