Steady play in the first two games. Defensively responsible, with not much offence and not much that really stood out.

Got an active stick, forced a few turnovers. Nothing too impressive, but solid defensively.

It should be interesting to see what the league does about the Lightning being over the cap by the allowed 10%during the off-season.
With Tampa at 11.7 million over the cap and not able to place Kucherov on LTIR until the start of the season, they should be getting the fines, the forfeiture of points and the loss of draft picks as a result of this.
We shall see how Bettman deals with this.

LTIR can be used in the off-season. This is one of those pervasive myths that keeps bubbling up, like re-entry waivers. From cap friendly:

Can LTIR be used in the off-season?
Yes, LTIR can be used in the off-season while the 10% off-season cushion is active. LTIR in the off-season is calculated using the basic equation outlined above, which permits a team to exceed the off-season salary cap. To use off-season LTIR the team must provide doctors proof that the player in question will continue to be injured at the beginning of the regular season for 10 NHL games and 24 calendar days.

At the start of the season the teams LTIR relief & ACSL is recalculated when the 10% cushion is removed.

Interesting. 1st time I have heard of this.

I wonder if he has been placed on LTIR then, because the same capfriendly has him on IR and not LTIR.

I think he is playing as advertised. Hard on puck battles, aggressive forechecking, some good passes and will probably score 5-8 goals all year.

The puck is usually in the other teams end when he is on the ice.

Podkolzin - not overly or underly impressed with his game against the Americans, he was just ok. Hopefully he gets better offensively as the tournament goes along. Not sure who drafted that American goaltender but he wasn’t good...at all!

That German kid Stutzle looked good, although he was gassed by the third period with them only having 14 skaters. I think they said he played almost 27 minutes. Canada should be able to unload on those poor German kids easily this afternoon.

Wasn't he supposed to be "dominating" in this tournament?

1) Yes, that was the narrative.
2) Who cares, it’s a small sample, it’s highly unlikely a D+1 player selected 10th is going to contribute to an NHL team.
3) He should probably join Utica in the spring anyway. Or maybe he comes in and plays a few games to burn a year and goes to Utica next season.

I'd love to see him rip it up, it's still early in the tournament. JB seems to think he's NHL ready.

I am fine if he is a solid 3rd line contributor, Canucks need those types as well.
Although, I believe he will be a 3rd wheel on one of the top 2 lines eventually.

I see EK is still linking Hoffman to VAN, and Vatanen.

I just don't get why or how?

At the end of the day I respect EK as he created a source of income for himself and his writers.

He should just call it a hockey chat site and not a hockey rumours site. His rumours are nothing more than hallucinations & dreams.
