I called this right after Hank went down. Of course it was fairly obvious. Good signing. 👍

I love the back and forth on this. Ottawa definitely has some excitement in the pipes. I’m just not sure how they could climb over Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, Montreal, Calgary and Winnipeg. That alignment didn’t do them a ton of favors for sure. If Stepan can be a steadying presence that’s fantastic. High second round picks are fairly valuable, that’s my hang up on this.

I honestly haven't looked at who's still available at Center among UFAs,
but Soderberg was just signed by Chicago and that's as bottom of the barrel as you can go, and Stepan has no term left, they might even flip him at the TDL.
Beats the hell out of "Nielsen" type signings for "leadership".
That being said, Stevie Y should have offered them Helm for 3rd round pick...

I need to go back and dig up what Hoffman and others turned down. Duclair had at least one deal of 2 yrs 3M per (denied there was a 3 yr 4.25 per) and got less than that. I have to believe Hoffman left money on the table too

Not sure what got into his head holding out, but that dog don’t hunt in Hockeytown. His ability to take shifts off almost smack of excessive ego, to me. Kid had/has worlds of potential, but he pisses it away with dumba** moves like holding out. Just my thoughts. He needs a good cranial-rectal inversion/reversal procedure....

Sweden v Austria....surprised AUTs holding tight as they are, their goalie looks solid. Watching Raymond roam the O-zone gives me chills, but the kid’s got a great shot....needs to let slip the dogs of war and rain pucks down on the opposing G....Our kids are looking strong, ya know??

Watching the 2d goal for Sweden, Raymond & Neiderbach in on it. Ya’ll... Soderblom is a MONSTER. Great ice-level camera views showing exactly how freakin’ BIG this guy is.... The Austria G CAN’T see around this big ole dude. This kid packs on about 20lbs, he’s gonna be a hand-full net-front. The announcers were comparing him to Homer....really had an issues w/them saying about the punishment he took; “But if you’d ask him, he’d say it was worth it.” How much brain damage is “...worth it”? Homer is a shell of his former self, I wouldn’t ever say it was worth it, and that’s coming from a dude who played rugby for 19yrs with more concussions received than beers consumed. The prevalence of HIAs is scary, great and ever-improving treatment, but still a geck of a thing to say.
