"Boxing Day" my foot. SWEDISH WJC DAY in this house! Watched the Swedes play; Am VERY impressed. Craig Button had several good things to say about the Detroit Contingent....they played like a well-oiled machine. Sods - n- Seides....them boys are gonna be devastating, guys. It was like watching men among boys at times. Definitely some development that's required, but in a few years, these kids are going to be decimating the AHL.

Interesting how the US plays like everyone's a Forward 😳🤔. Was duly unimpressed with the rear-guards and how much they looked like a bottle with holes at both ends. Thankfully, no Detroit picks in that bunch, but if that's what the other teams will look like in a few years balanced against how Sods -n- Seids look, I'll buy that for a buck 🤑🤑🤑!!!

"Yep, was a good day overall for the Little Cesar's, Belle Tire, Tim Horton 's Red Wings. Wheels kinda came off it a bit there, had some issues in deep & turning the puck over. Good thing is, it's a long season, we got agood crew in the lockerroom, so I'm sure we'll get back in the hunt."

FULL DISCLOSURE: I cheated. I went to "another" hocker rumor site....some -guy was asked about several younger players, and what he rhought of them. Very disparaging remarks about Zadina & Veleno. See, THIS is why getting my hockey insights elsewhere is like eating fast-food....just don't sit well in the guts.

100% agree. Think that's why it was so painful to watch the US play last night. Maybe it'll get better, but I think it'll be like watching Hallmark movies at Christmas: chick/dude goes home, snow falls, people "connect", they sing Christmas carols, they fall in love...Lather, rinse, repeat 🤨🤐

Stepan's game has been deteriorating BIG time lately. Not Nielsen or Filppula level. But I hate this trade for Ottawa. I like what they've been doing. But not this.

Ottawa needs some veteran leadership to help insulate all these kids in what will surely be a losing season. They need help at centre. Lots of UFA's don't want to sign in Ottawa. Trades are hard when guys have NTC's or modified NTC's that would often have Ottawa listed. So addressing this hole on your roster isn't as easy as it appears. They also add $6.5M to the cap but only pay $2M in cash. Finally, there is a pretty good chance Ottawa just flips him at the deadline as a UFA rental. So they pay a 2nd now but get something back later. Even a 3rd or a couple of 4ths helps put the cost into perspective. But maybe Ek can analyze this too?
