The kid obviously has elite skills. When I was watching those Whiteys World scrimmages you could tell he was the cream of the crop. - MBFlyerfan
It’s been three years since his draft and we tend to forget that he put up 102 points as a 16 year old in Brandon. There’s a reason he was far and away the consensus #1 pick before Hischier’s rapid rise up the draft boards. You plug a healthy Patrick onto this roster and this team is will be really set at center. |

Patrick passed his physical yesterday and thus is scheduled to practice today, this is a BIG first step! |

Head issues aside, I am excited to see how he looks with a fully healthy body. All that time off could have many more benefits for those abdominal surgeries he had etc...

Actually it's extremely fair based on your posts. You made posts about Brink before the tournament started. If what you state is true about Brink, he wouldn't have been a first round pick and a highly regarded prospect.
I have never seen Brink play a single second. I don't invest time in prospects.
One optimistic viewpoint doesn't change the overall outlook that you have. The majority of your posts have been pessimistic in nature. - MJL
Actually Brink was drafted in the 2nd round. He most likely dropped out of the first round because of his skating ability.

Great news. I’m ecstatic for him and the team. With him and lindy back healthy, forward Corp looks great. It’s the d I worry about. I’m looking forward to seeing what Gustafsson brings. |

Based on the facts that:
1. The other players are playing hard for Pederson (have not quit as often happens at such situations)
2. The whispers in earlier years about Wentz being hypocritical, cliquish etc. and the "anonymous" comments by Alshon
3. The way players reacted to Foles and then Jalen Hurts (Miles Sanders's effusive comments about Hurt's "leadership" etc.)
4. How mild mannered Pederson is and how he refuses to be critical and how he praises Wentz's professionalism in spite of leaks to media.
5. How often he allows Wentz to change plays via audible
6. Wentz's leaks to media before a must-win game about not wanting to be a back-up in spite of a horrid, horrid stretch when he shoulda been benched earlier, and now this:
A body of evidence is emerging that we have a prima donna in Eagles, and its not Doug. - PT21
Sheldon, Hurts was exposed by a good Redskins defense. It only took 3 games of film to figure him out. Points 1-6 are gossip. Give it a rest. |

Thanks for the correction. Are you aware that once you get past the first dozen or so picks, most players have some kind of flaw or weakness in their game. Although you're entitled to your opinion, stating that he's not going to be an NHL player is extremely premature. |

The whole scouting report on Hurts, even in college, was that if you could keep him in the pocket and force him to throw the ball he will be exposed. It didn't take that long for NFL level defensive coordinators to watch some film and read the years of scouting reports to game plan for this guy.
The Eagles made a big mistake alienating Wentz.

The kid is a good athlete and he has some poise and passing touch. However in my view, he doesn't have an NFL arm. Many of his passes to the sidelines are ripe for knockdowns or at risk of getting picked because there is no zip on the ball. Eagles better be really careful about the decision they're going to make. |

actually read that his skating and lower body strength has greatly improved. Covid has given him time to double up his workouts on skating.

I personally think Brink has an excellent shot to play in the NHL. He reminds me of Danny Briere in that he is always around the net and in the dirty areas.

Well the odds are he is right but that is true of most prospects
His skating coach, figure skating got him two days a week as opposed to just 1. They worked out the kink in his stride. In the gym he focused on LB and mainly his legs. Through Covid he had access to all he needed, lucky.
Watching him play his has a high motor, I liked he is always around the puck and never gave up on a back check, he tracks people down. Kid is known for a high hockey IQ and getting to the right spots, he is also known to have a really good shot. The skating and strength is huge, him getting to the right spot a 1/2 step quicker then having the strength to battle and protect the puck was a big focus. Who knows but if the kid puts it all together he definitely would fill a need for the Flyers.

I also don’t view him as slow at all, clearly not the fastest guy on the ice but he doesn’t look out of place in the slightest bit. |

Yes I am aware of that characteristic of the NHL draft and yes you are correct that my opinion is very premature at this point. I have just been watching and playing hockey for a long time now, too long in fact :-), and I just couldn't believe my eyes when I watched this kid skate. Like I said, I hope I am wrong and he becomes a great pick for us, I really do. Because the kid has everything else you want to see, poise, IQ, vision, I guess that is why he has got as far as he has to this point. |

I wish I had a dollar for every time a poster added qualifications of watching and playing hockey for a long time. As if that actually mattered. If the kids skating was as bad as you state that it is, he isn't in the WJC and he wouldn't have been drafted as high as he was. |
