I can only go by the stupidity of your own words which were embarrassing. Not much to understand or take away from your laughable comments. Really does show your true understanding of the sport or lack there of.

I didn't think that you actually understood the concept. I also know that you couldn't back it up. You took your shot. It failed but do you feel better? Asinine comments like this, which you normally make is why I usually don't pay any attention to you. Doing so now is obviously my mistake.

‘There is no deterrent in hockey”. ‘ it’s a false concept’

Your DUMB comment....you love to make poop personal. So I thought I’d respond in a language you understand....please go back to not commenting on my posts and I will afford you the same courtesy. Your lack of pure hockey knowledge shows all to often but you hide it with your key board warrior mentality. I’d rather discuss Flyer related topics and while not always agreeing not getting personal until the other guy crosses that line. Have a good one.

For the record, I agree that Morin will likely not be a regular regardless of where he plays but based on what I’m reading by the hockey guru’s this morning, I want to be clear on some things.

1. Physicality no longer exists in the NHL anymore? Is this correct? Are we talking about fighting or playing physical? Are we talking about one or the other or both?

2. With Covid going on and the protocol put in place by all sports leagues, it’s absolutely impossible for a player like Samuel Morin to play at all regardless of position? Right now we’re seeing players sit in large numbers in other leagues. This can’t and won’t happen in the NHL, now that we’re out of the bubble?

3. Sam Morin absolutely cannot switch positions? It’s impossible? Morin obviously isn’t Brent Burns but Burns is a huge dude who transitioned from defense to wing for a couple of seasons and went back. Burns was an offensive threat at wing. Dustin Byfuglien is another example as a big guy with success who switched positions. So while I’d like to see Morin stay at defense, I don’t understand why the switch is so laughable, while the guys laughing have nothing to back up why they are so opposed to the idea. Byfuglien’s switch might be one of the biggest reasons why the Flyers never won their third Stanley Cup in franchise history. I’m not talking about pure offense. I’m talking about physicality and overall skill by Buff and Burns.

I’m just gonna wait and see.

The two guys you just compared him to are both highly skilled and went on to have all star seasons . That is not a fair comparison at all. Also, didn’t both go the opposite, offense to defense?

Burns and Byfuglien both had disgusting hockey skills pre-conversion, tho.

Morin's puck skills have never been too remarkable.

Nope. Burns was a defenseman with the Minnesota Wild. The experiment came with the Sharks at wing for along period of time and he went back.

Dustin Byfuglien was a defenseman first. Chicago had Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, Brian Campbell, Nick Laddy. The Hawks were set on the blue line, so the switch was made. Buff may have even cancelled out Pronger.

You’re right but nobody here is asking for Morin to play with Sean Couturier either. In fact, the odds are stacked against him that Morin plays at all. My point is, the idea isn’t that stupid just because Morin is a big guy or a physical guy. The idea isn’t that easy to dismiss.

You just made our point that much easier, the odds are stacked against him to play at all, add in a position switch...

Could Morin be a John Scott or Wade Belak type of D to F conversion? Sure, but that role just doesn't exist anymore.

This is a perfect example of seeing what you want to see. You had a bias against the player before the tournament even started. You're also routinely pessimistic. The same thing was said about Luc Robitaille and countless other good players. Professional talent evaluators disagree with you.

I know it’s been mentioned many times but is worth repeating: Scouts questioned Oskar’s skating ability during his draft year. Flyers scouts only saw his skating deficiencies as a matter of gaining more leg strength that was easily correctable. That prediction has so far paid off.

I think this is one of the worst things a team can do. Become reactionary to one series or short playoff run. The answer really isn't adding a Sam Morin as a forward. The answer is to be more competitive within your lineup as a whole. Don't copy or react to other teams. Build your own identity as a team and play at a maximum competitive level. This is a speed and skill league. You need grit and competitiveness within those skill players.

Ed Snider made the Bullies because of one series and one set of brothers. Seeing the forest doesn't mean you can avoid the trunks that are pounding you senseless. Eventually you adapt to avoid the bruising and then overcome.
Morin has been everything he could have been as a player and teammate. He may be a cog in future actions that the management is anticipating that we are not aware of.
I have never read a word indicating that he is without good personal qualities and if not for those knees would be highly valuable.
I like what I've briefly seen and hope for more of the same.
Really, how can anyone not like this fellow?

He is definitely a likable guy, but I dont know that he’s been “ everything he could have been as a player”. Wasn’t he drafted the same year as Hägg and didn’t Hägg beat him out getting to the NHL before all the injuries started for Morin? My memory sucks, but I feel like he was a bit of a disappointment before the injuries started.

I compared a situation where a defenseman switched to forward. It’s not my fault you can’t read between the lines.

Ok, thank you. Wade Belak who by all accounts was only an enforcer but played wing and defense whenever Necessary. Yes, these are better compatible names but do I need names to make my point? This isn’t an attack on you. It’s a compliment for having the ability to come up with a better example, further proving my point. The switch is more common then some of these mouth breathers on this page realize.

Wentz is not the problem in Philadelphia. It starts with drafting, followed closely, very closely, by coaching.
