Well honestly Bowman and Kelly probably knew how good Zadorov is. Sometimes a GM thinks they can get more out of a player fir various reasons. A player may be at the point in career where MAYBE somewhat better production comes with greater opportunity to handle the puck. Or just at the point in career where is a bit more willing to handle the puck.
This may or may not be the situation with Zadorov. What we do know is that we need a Zadorov type on our defense. Trading Saad for him made sense as Saad was going to ask for more than he deserves given how Saad fjtş into a certain money slot for his role.
