Solid. Maybe he can be trade bait?
- mohel

Why trade him? He is a cheap, solid 4th liner. He bring his effort every shift. That is something younger players need to see.

Do you think that the small amount of Dzone starts is attributable to their ability on the forecheck and their ability to clog up center ice? Or is the reason they don't get many dzone starts because of their inability to get the puck out of our own end?
- -Doh-

My bad. I messed up. That is O-zone start percentages.

Give a better perspective on him. He tilts the ice so the offensive guys can start in Q-zone.

You don't need to, but if the offer were good enough... He is pretty replaceable.

Regarding playing time, I'd like to make sure all the kids get a good sample size for evaluation, and the older guys play enough for them to get a chance to trade them, if possible.

he is 26 and we are 2 years away from being a playoff contender. he will be a UFA at that point. adds more value to a playoff team then to us. Highmore and hagel are 2-3 years younger. they could be part of a better team in 2 years. anybody that is more likely not then they should be made avlaible. some GM might give away a young 2 way center and 2nd round pick for journeymen. lol. if only stan 2021 could trade with stan of 2016!!

There aren't that many kids to steal ice time from is there? Also there will be 15 other non playoff teams looking to dump vets for something, I'm guessing the Hawks might be able to dump one or two that's it. Not every guy that someone wants gone

If Soderberg moves up between Suter and Kane. the Hawks will have 2 lines that will be like mosquitos on watermelon in a summer picnic.

The Hawks may, if Rocky is willing, have the ability to take salary back.

I don't know what the market will be for any Hawk in this odd market, but I hope they maximize their position.

You still need guys who can handle some tough minutes to avoid throwing kids to the wolves. Look at teams like the Sabres and Oilers. They didn't keep the right vets to show the way and are floundering around still.

Imagine having McDavid, DryCycle , Yamamoto and RNH and still sucking?

Even if Kampf becomes nothing more than a placeholder for a couple more seasons and allows time for guys like Barrat, Johnson and Entwistle to develop further, he is worth his cap hit.

Having guys who know their roles, accept them and perform in them is still valuable. IMO, more than a 4th Rd pick.

Hagel and Highmore aren't centers. Highmore is about to be 25, BTW.

If you have a fever, but test negative for the Chinese Flu, why would you have to quarantine? Negative is negative.
- mohel

I was going to back out of this, but I must protest the term you used.

I doubt that any US resident has been infected by someone coming from China in about a year. This has become an American virus, passed from American residents to American residents.

And a personal reason: our daughter is Korean, living in NYC. As most people can’t tell the difference between the various Asian ethnicities, she has been subject to anti-Asian comments and “attacks” (fortunately, none physical) specifically because of the “China Virus” slur.

Our former President didn’t care about putting out racial slurs against Mexicans, “shiithole” African countries, China Virus....

I hope we are better than that.

But you just couldn't could you, at least we went 2 days or so without the politics and cheap shots.

Later all enjoy the game.

Sorry, I assumed we were back to naming them by their country of origin since the WP calls two of the variants the English and South African version. What should I call those?

At this point (and, yes, last January with what originated in China) they can be called after those countries.

Once they’ve been here and Americans are getting infected by Americans - that’s a different story.

Just my opinion - that’s my logic - whatever happens once they reach our shores is our responsibility - and I don’t much care what the Post or Times call things - I take it all in and figure it out for myself.

Unlike, say, many who only get their news from Fox - or OAN or Newsmax.

Not you, of course. But many.

The entire VGK coaching staff is self-isolating for tonite’s game against the Blues (“out of an abundance of caution” - I love that term). The GM Kelly McCrimmon will coach, backed up by coaches from the Henderson Silver knights.

It's got nothing to do with responsibility; these illnesses have been called by their country of origin forever. And you have decided for me that this practice should end. Is that correct? And if I don't?

Gus is a healthy scratch for the Flyers tonight (I looked at Flyers hockeybuzz page and found Gus is healthy scratch). Ghost returns. Someone named Mark Friedman is playing tonight on defense. I researched him; 3rd round #86 a few years ago from Bowling Green had been in AHL & Flyers just re-signed him. 5-11 192nothing stands out in his stat's

Hmm, I thought it was never determined where the Spanish flu originated ? Called the Spanish Flu because Spain was the first country where the press reported it ? First US case was in Kansas.

What I thought move Kane to left boards, Kubalik bombs from the right boards.
