McDavid...... by a mile.
Then a lot of other guys.... and at nr 8, 9 or 10 this kid from Arizona. |
|
|
|
The award isn’t called “Best Player on the Planet”. It’s MVP. And that is clearly Matthews |

Kopitar...21 pts in 16 games, plays almost 22 mins a night, plays in all situations.still one of the best defensive forwards in the game.also plays with very little supporting cast, your choices have at least 1 other superstar to work with, this guy has been carrying the kings for yrs.
Not belittling what the other 2 have done in anyway, both superstars and having amazing yrs, these guys are going to be talked about for along time, but kopitar is in the convo. |

Tough call, but I have to give it to Tim Stutzle |

Both, this is exciting for NHL fans to watch a race like this in a condensed season.

Leave it to moron habs and oilers fans to change it into a who’s the best player debate. The question was who’s mvp not who’s the best player. Did Gretzky and Crosby win the hart trophy every year before McDavid? |

Silly question.
Not even close.
Anybody who watched last night saw the raw genius of McDavid. Never mind the three goals he scored.
His passes on his two assists were so clean, so elegant, pure magic to watch. |

Connor by a mile. He is literally carrying this Oilers team on his back. I can't believe this is a poll.
Matthews has a better cast which helps him immensely. |

Matthews is excellent - his name should be mentioned and will continue to be mentioned moving forward, but statistically, right now, it's McDavid. |

You actually might have an argument there but McDavid does it all himself like last night. Kopitar while great does not reach the McDavid level |

In any debate involving mcdavid- the answer is always him:
Both the Best player in the world by a country mile and carries that franchise on his back
Leaf fans will say Matthews, everyone else knows it’s Connor |

McDavid by a mile. Ek said Gaudreau would win the scoring title but that isn't looking so good.
Top power forward is Hoffman.
Sorokin for the Calder and Vezina.
Top d-man is Ghost + JVR.
Best player outside the NHL is time-travelling Ryan Sittler. |

Not surprisingly, the thread is full of idiotic takes.
McDavid is the answer. Not only is he the better player, (Matthews being the better goal-scorer), but without McDavid, the Oilers are bottom feeders. Without Matthews, the Leafs would still be competitive most nights.
The gap between the two is closing though. It will be interesting to see who is the more complete player in the next couple years.
